Gamecube OS like a windows os...
« on: January 24, 2004, 02:28:45 PM »
How about setting up a gamecube so that when you boot the thing, a desktop shows up having icons of shortcuts and whatnot..like the windows OS. An on-board keyboarding system will solve the keyboard problem, and the controls on the controller can control the cursor (pointer). Of course having an OS on 42 mb which is comes on the gc is not possible so an internal/external memory source would have to co-exist with the current hardware. Maybe have a cute little hard drive be the master and the disc be the slave...being the master...the hard drive would boot the OS. Think of the possibilities...Also a consideration...make an external memory source like that of a memory card substitute the hard drive to boot the os. Oh and don't dread... a "my computer" type thing will allow you to still play the games simply by pressing a buton to start the cd drive.....
So whatchya think.... i' attempt if those damn bottem screws on the thing wernt so foreign...if anyone knows how to remove them please...email me at RATIOUTPUT@aol.com...ill be sure to update you on my attempt..

Later.

Its a console, not a pc.  Why would you want a junk OS on the gc when you would never use it since you have a pc?

A group is working on getting linux on gamecube. Windows wouldn't be able to run on a gamecube anyways because of the processor.

Windows is a POS anyway and has no legitimate reason for survival.

If you can't get the screws off...I'm not even going to continue.  But meh, just stop with all the OS bashing, it's old.

Get an Xbox, if you like OSs on consoles.
So many people have hacked that, it's not funny. My friend has some custom Xbox OS that allows him to burn games.
Neato.

NOT.

A GUI, possible, but its cheaper to find an old G3 mac with a PowerPC400
