i was lookign through trailers when i came across a new Dawn of the Dead movie. I am a big fan of zombie movies/semi zombie movies and evil flesh eating bacteria outbreak movies.....anyways..yeah looks cool. Kindam akes me think of resident evil, only the resident evil movie was a poor zombie move..good action..poor zombie..anyways...i will prolyl also check out the classic version too so i can hate the new one lol.

Grrrr...The only similarity between this movie and the original is that there are zombies and a shopping mall...That's it...

I also can't stand the idea of mobile, intelligent zombies(a la 28 Days Later)...

ug...dawn of the dead...possibly the worst movie ever made. it was painful to watch. i've never seen why this movie is popular. (well, as popular as a movie can get for having cult status.) i suppose the special effects were pretty good for the time, but looking back on it now makes me want to watch miss congeniality instead.

i like zombie movies

if theres a zombie in it..ill watch it..and yes. 28 days later did kickass....also like i watched a preview to the new dawn and yeah....looks good

28 days later wasn't a zombie movie! It wasn't even a horror move, thats just what it was billed as. The "zombies" were people infected with a extremly infectious virus that causes rage. I know that that also happens in Resident Evil but with this one the people aren't all rotten ect they are just a bit blood-splattered. Great film. Probably one of the best films to come out of the UK.

lol jale your confusing ghouls with zombies..this discussion has gone on before...

ghouls are the undead..they walk by in a zombie like state are midnelss and are the living dead

zombies is anythign that is in well a zombie state...you know what a zombie state is.
the creatures on 28 days later for instance are zombies..but their not dead so their not ghouls.

all ghouls are zombies
not all zombies are ghouls.

28 days later sucked, it was to corny. I did love Resident Evil, however, and can't wait to see the second one. Dawn of the dead, i can't judge, because i havn't seen it (the classic), but plan to see the new upcoming one.

The creatures in 28 days later are merely people who are very very VERY angry. They are not rotting, they are not deformed, they are not even dead or anything close to dead. They are just "the infected". They are never refered to as zombies in the film.

Is dawn the second of the three? The one with the mall? If so I love that movie. I didn't really care for the remake of Night that Romero did in the early 90's. I have Day of the Dead on DVD, finally able to find it. I haven't watched it yet. I also love zombie movies, and just about any kind of horror movie. I haven't seen 28 days later yet. I will probably get it sooner or later.

I also love Return of the Living Dead, and Return of the Living Dead 3. Though they are parodies of the Zombie movies, they are good. the second one was just to stupid for me, it had a lame Michael Jackson spoof in it that was stupid.

i mean how many movies are your human and then your a freak when you get bit or infected....zombie movies...

i mean resident evil is really similar to 28 days..theres a virus that transforms people into mindless beings....they dont call em zombies in the game..but of coarse the creators and the media refer to them as such.

I knew that too, but I had a moment of stupidity.

I wonder when or if Romero will ever do the rumored 4th Dead movie, Twilight of the Dead, or Twilight of the Living Dead. There has been rumors on it for so long you'd think something would come of it by now. He was going to do the first RE movie but was let go.

I know, that really pissed me off...I read the script, and it would have fit perfectly(the only real difference was that Chris wasn't part of S.T.A.R.S.)

Then he was dropped for making the script "too similar." Oh thanks Capcom, get rid of the freaking "inventor" of the zombie flick and replace him with a craptastic director who obviously knew squat about the RE series...

Paul Anderson: Alright, let's get this movie started!
Crew member: But sir, you don't know what the RE series is about...
Paul Anderson: Sure I do! Zombies, virus, mansion, big tongue creature, that's all I need to know!

Actually, a large portion of the movie isn't taking place in the mall from what I've read. I'm trying to stay neutral on this; it's a remake of quite possibly the best zombie movie ever... but then again it is a zombie movie. What I can't understand is the logic; if they're remaking a classic movie by George Romero, why then is nobody throwing money at George to get him to make "Dead Reckoning" (the fourth movie in the "Night of the Living Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", "Day of the Dead" series)? Romero did say he's done revising the script, and he's working on a couple other projects.

O'well, at least we have "Diamond Dead" to look forward too (another movie for you to look out for Perm). It's a Romero zombie film, so it's something! http://www.diamonddead.com/ Go there and vote for Asia Argento to play Aria! George Romero's recent diary entry explaining his current projects, etc... Also, in a recent interview with George (I'll try to dig it up) he talked about "Dead Reckoning" and mentioned that John Carpenter might help him out by doing the score and possibly directing or something... John Carpenter and George Romero working together on a zombie movie?! **drool**

"28 Days Later" was a horror movie, and is (in my opinion) the second best UK film out recently. If you haven't seen it try checking out "Dog Soldiers", it's the best werewolf movie since "American Werewolf in London". As for whether or not they were zombies in "28 Days Later"; the two definitions referred to are:

1 usually zombi a : the supernatural power that according to voodoo belief may enter into and reanimate a dead body b : a will-less and speechless human in the West Indies capable only of automatic movement who is held to have died and been supernaturally reanimated and

2 a : a person held to resemble the so-called walking dead; especially : AUTOMATON b : a person markedly strange in appearance or behavior

So it just depends on which definition you want to go by. I look at "28 Days Later" as a zombie movie; they might not be traditional zombies, but that was definetly the intention.

It was sold as a horror movie but if you have the DVD (i do) then on the interviews it does say that it is more a thriller than a horror film (which is true).

My dictionary says:

1. A person who appears to be lifeless, apathetic, or totally lacking in independant judgement.

2. A corpse brought back to life by witchcraft

Of course the infected from 28 days later were not "type 2" zombies but they did lack independant judgement. I think that they are not conventional zombies, in the same way that the Woman in Black from Susan Hill's book was not an ordinary ghost.

Yeah, I got the DVD the day it came out; but I don't buy what they say. It wasn't based on suspense like thrillers; horror movies on the other hand are meant to inspire a kind of fear. That's definetly what I think the movie was going for, especially at a time when all we hear is about the dangers of chemical weapons.

My definition I just copy/pasted from Merriam-Webster online; I figured it was the easiest.

Fangoria writes, "Having just come off making the splatter-packed AZUMI, a smash hit in its native Japan, director Ryuhei Kitamura looks toward his next release: an updated version of his popular, hyperactive zombie/gore flick VERSUS. "I'm releasing ULTIMATE VERSUS soon in Japan," the director tells Fango. "I reshot some scenes two months ago; this was four years after originally making the film. I took the cast and crew back up into the mountains and shot an additional 10 minutes, which have been re-edited into the movie. It works great-I had fun with AZUMI but not as much fun as I had when I made VERSUS."

However, fans will have to wait a little longer for an official sequel to VERSUS, although Kitamura does maintain that it is on the drawing boards. "The sequel! Ah yes, I'm working on it," he assures. "It's just a matter of when I make it. I will have my first U.S. movie come out next year, and then do a sequel to VERSUS for 2005 or 2006." The good news for fans of the first film (available on Media Blasters DVD) is that Kitamura plans to have VERSUS 2 follow the adventures of the original film's star Tak Sakaguchi (a.k.a. Prisoner KSC2-303).

"I really don't care when I make it, because the actors and crew of VERSUS are like my family," adds Kitamura. "VERSUS is now very famous all over the world, so it is no longer a problem to get money for VERSUS 2. I was in hell making VERSUS because I had no money at all, but first things first-I have to make my next Japanese movie this year. But if I have time at the end of this year, then next year you will see VERSUS 2."
