Majora's Mask Revived!
« on: January 20, 2004, 04:13:52 PM »
Anyone buy or get the bonus disk with majoras mask?  What do you think of it, whats your favorite part, and what is your favorite mask (other than the fierce dietys mask)?

I think that MM is a perfect 10 just like last time, my favorite part in the game is the Stone Tower, I loved how it could go upside down.  My favorite mask (other than the fierce diety of course!)  has to be the Goron mask, you get around so fast with him, its great!

Yeah, MM is great. I'm enjoying it a lot more my second time through with the Collectors Disk. I think it's a better game than even OoT. The game itself just feels more polished and complete. I'm sure that's due to the fact that they used the same game and graphics engine from OoT and therefore had more time to concentrate on just the game itself. That's why I have high hopes for WW2 since they're using the same engine from WW.

Oh and my favorite mask is the Bunny Hood. My favorite part is probably the whole beginning of the game.

The bunny hood was fantastic.  Made ya forget all about the F-ing horse.  With the extra mobility, Link kicked more ass than ever.

I love this game, it's my favourite game ever. When I first bought it, I was disapointed. But when I got back into it, and saw the detail and creativity it contained, I regained my interest. It's not a 'perfect' game like OoT was: it has clear and many faults that frustrate me to the extreme, but it's goal is much greater than OoT's.

After completing it, I was left with the impression that much of the designer's thoughts and ideas had been poured into the game. Anyone remember the flower box in Yoshi's Island that said some thing like: "We, the designers have poured our hearts and souls into this game, We hope to like it"? That's the sort of thing I feel went into this game.

Bunny mask all the way. The dancing mask is a close second.

Out of the three main morphing masks my favourite was the zora one. He looked so kewl and the guitar rocked. Plus I loved the Zora fighting style. What I liked to do was fire my blades and then jump at the right moment so that my attack would connect just as my blades returned. Sweeeeeet

I loved the "soul healing" song... so sad... forgot the name unfortunatly. I need to whip out the N64 again, or steal a copy of the collector's disk thingy.

By the way, who here has the gold cartridge of MM with the holographicy front image? I do! I also have a "red blood" copy of OOT...

I have the gold holograph catridge and I think so does everyone else who bought the 64 version.  Sadly all of them are like that (in the US anyway).  Blood Red OoT though? Sounds pretty sweet unless you dipped the catridge in fairy blood... because that is just not cool.

I tried playing MM again, but I always feel like Bill Murray in Groundhogs day, I see why he went insane in that movie.  I hate being rushed to do something and then whenever I save the game its as if I didn't do anything.  So frustrating, I like to see the progress I am making.  I like it because it was a new step and a bold direction, but I'm glad N had the sense to come back a bit and let me save whenever.

Well, I finally got a chance to play this game after waiting patiently for this disc to arrive. Having just beaten the game, I'm still disappointed that Nintendo didn't wrap things up in a nice package (Oot was guilty too, but at least it had a sequel coming.)

I thought this game would have Link stay in termina, which would explain Wind Waker but guess what? He goes home! Where's Navi? bridge some gaps but it didn't.

I didn't get the 'Optimum' ending this time, I'll probably try on the week-end when I have more time (I just went straight to the last boss.)
What's the difference? I normally don't like spoilers, but please tell me!

All in All, a solid Zelda title. Stone mask was a personal favorite as I get to snipe unsuspecting foes...

The only thing that bothers me about Majora's Mask on the collectors disk is the sound, it's much worse then I thought. And I don't know if it is me but there is some major slowdown in Clock Town.

I'm glad I didn't get rid of my Nintendo 64 copy.

My copy has crashed several times as well. Its really annoying if you saved at an Owl because then you have to start from day 1

I beat the game yesterday with 100% completion and it only froze twice. Luckily both times I had just  start playing so I didn't actually lose anything.

Oh so I'm not the only one who had it lock up? Good (and bad) to hear....

For me, it was when I was in Goron form either using the song of Soaring or opening doors in the dungeon. I then minimized the use of Goron  as much as possible after that....

I don't think it makes any difference which form you use, so get using that Goron! I've had it freeze multiple times in many different places and forms while doing many different things.

The first time it happened I was entering the Potion Hags Shop to start the monkey saving quest. I believe that's what it is called. Anyway when you enter a door like that the screen goes black. Well it stayed black. The next time it happened I had just played the Song of Time after having completed my tasks for the day and was just running around Clock Town. I entered the Northern part and the screen went black and never recovered.

i've had it freeze up the most using the goron.  once you get rolling really fast around termina field, there are a lot of objects whizzing around causing severe slow down leading to a total lock up.

Damn, sounds like they took zero time to work out bugs. How ghetto....

I'm lucky to have the original. I forgot how cool that game was, the mask concept was by far the most creative concept they have come up with.  Controlling seasons was cool, oh yeah so was time, but swimming as a zora topped them all......AND WHO COULD FORGOT THE FIERCE DIETY MASK?!

Actually, some of the early grey cartridges had red blood in it as well. I own one and did see red blood.
