Obviously, the broadband adapter is meant for people with broadband. If you want to use it for LAN as well, you could use your PC's internet connection sharing. However, the modem adapter is easier to find but won't work with ISDN. If you have or plan on getting ISDN, I suggest investing in a broadband adapter and (if required) a network card for your PC.

Why waste money on an ISDN?  You can get DSL for that price.

Unless your playing Phantasy Star Online.  I play PSO both on Modem and Broadband.  See I can only get dial up in my dorm room.  But the Community Center here on base has xbox's connected to the base LAN.  So I just go over there and hook my GC up to the base LAN and use it's ultra high speed connection.
Both $ony & now M$ appear to have been "using" the gaming industry to finance and prop-up their other industries which would struggle as stand-alone.

manunited, BlkPaladin: Perhaps where YOU live. Here, DSL can only be had in addition to ISDN and I have never heard of anyone having cable internet access in Germany.

Hmm, well germany sucks? Move to norway, you can get 100Mbs both ways for less than 120 bucks a month

You can still shotgun 2 or 3 modems together for cheaper than ISDN anyway...

Yeah, but without ISDN you can only use one of them at the same time...

Will there be more games coming out for the gamecube that supports modem adaption? (besides PSO ep.1&2 and ep.3 C.A.R.D revolution)

Huh?  SHotgunning modems has nothing to do with ISDN...

Hell ISDN died in the US half a decade ago, if you count it ever being alive. You don't need ISDN to run DSL or Cable broadband at all.  It's just an easy way to collect money in your case.

Yeah, or to keep the phonelines open when my sister uses the telephone...
BTW, then what does shotgunning mean if not using simultaneous? Using a gun on them surely isn't constructive.

derek: There are no online games for GC except for the PSO-series. Only online games can use the modem.

Shotgunning is using simultaneously, but it is not ISDN.  ISDN is basically a few analog and digital channels both running over copper.  Shotgunning modems is running simultaneously over 1 or 2 phone lines, making the bandwith out on both lines, to get something that is generally more powerful than ISDN at actual bandwith.

DSL runs off of Digital channels, but can use the analog for voice, but is not required.

Well, at least here a given phoneline can only be used by one device at once and I bet having a second line laid to your house costs a LOT.

Meh, the US is different I guess.  We had a second phone line for a long time and it didn't cost a dime.  As for shotgunning two modems over one line, there were a few tricks way back when I was still using a 28.8k and there was one or two for 56k, but they were a pain in the ass.

Just out of curiousity how long has ISDN been in germany, in the US anyway, ISDN was the precurser to DSL, ISDN coming about a year or two before DSL appeared.
