Ocarina Of Time Remake To Launch November 5
« on: Today at 06:45:25 AM »

The amount of motion picture was kept to a minimum in the Zelda Direct.

The Zelda 40th anniversary had one job, and delivered in spades.

A supermajority of the presentation was devoted to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, which confirmed a November 5 release. There are some new designs for the dungeons, the day/night cycle will continue to pass even when in towns, and players will have free camera control and a jump button (instead of autojump). Also added for Switch 2 was an option for humming ocarina tunes into the microphone.

Ocarina will also support the Zelda Notes app used for Breath of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2, and amiibo of young Link and Zelda will be available sometime in 2027.

A special Switch 2 with Zelda branding (including green Joy-Cons) will be available on October 29, and the first run of physical editions (while supplies last) will have "textured foil" cover art.

The show also confirmed the name of the April 30 film will just be "The Legend of Zelda", but did not show a trailer in lieu of the title card.

$70 physical, at least until Walmart does its thing and then Amazon does its thing. Probably $60 on the eShop.

I'm not sure how to feel about this unveiling, now that we've finally seen what the game looks like.

What they showed seemed...fine, but not exciting in any way. TBH, the game looks like every "THIS IS WHAT ZELDA WOULD LOOK LIKE IN UNREAL ENGINE 4! DO NOT STEAL!" video I've ever seen. I could take or leave or leave a lot of the stuff they added, like manual jumping and the day/night cycle being even more annoying since the clock never stops now. The voice acting generally sounds good, which after how bad the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom dubs were is reassuring.

Still, I basically thought the same of the Star Fox remake when they showed that off, so I'll probably like this just fine as well.

I’m not feeling it.

I can’t be the only one who feels some of those Castle Town characters looked much worse than the character models for our main cast, right? And outside of the shiny new paint, it feels as if every new addition is cute, but unnecessary. Humming Ocarina tunes doesn’t really justify the tech, sorry. I can’t tell if they tried making the world bigger but considering how tame every aspect of the remake looks on the whole, I can’t imagine it’s much larger.

Overall, eh. I guess this is a nice opportunity to introduce the exact same game to folks, but it’s still Ocarina of Time, which has some fundamental quirks I don’t love. It’s going to need a discount for me to consider it.
Will Evan_B ever create something worth appreciating? Stick around and find out!
