Account deletion?

Am I blind, or is this a moderator only function? If so, requesting. If not, explain to me the process please!

I don't think this forum software was ever built with the idea of deleting an account. Otherwise, we'd just be deleting every spambot account instead of banning them and putting them in a hidden view forum where all their junk stuff goes. We've long talked about the age of this forum software and, 25 years ago, the forums that I used and saw back when this type of communication was taking off never had deleted accounts. They usually just banned them. It wasn't a thing with social media like it is now with people wanting to deactivate and delete accounts on various sites. Unless it is an admin thing I can't see, that's the only answer I'm aware of.

But, hey. With the way these forums seem to keep having connection issues and other technical problems over the last few years, it may be that we all have our accounts deleted when the forums crash for good. In which case, problem solved.  ;D  :o  :'(

While a cursory glance into the Simple Machines framework and tech support seems to imply that account deletion is an administrative/moderation feature, that might be enabled on specific versions of the framework that this forum may or may not be running on. While I'm not proud of the digital footprint of my dickishness on full display, I understand that these are the consequences of my actions and that "the internet is forever" is a statement I should have heeded with a bit more gravity.

While I won't bemoan the point, I will entertain the idea of a permanent ban in the next month or so.
