If you think most Nintendo produced games suck you either bought the wrong console or you're a troll.

Quote

I have to agree with Ian- you've got to be pretty stupid to buy a Gamecube knowing you hate Nintendo games.

Well I guess you're right , I certainly do believe I've bought the wrong system. At first I wanted the GC, thought it was going to be great. C'mon its Nintendo...Ive been a fan since the good old NES days, how could they go wrong? Well the answer is the Gamecube...it not all that great IMO. I probably would have been better off getting an X-Box....but that just crazy talk. Honestly I don't find that Nintendo is really taken advantage of GC.

You do have a PS2 or XBox, right? There's no point in confining yourself to a system you don't like.

I can't believe Super Mario Sunshine is even in this thread.  Some may not care for it, but to call it the WORST game on the GCN is pretty ballsy, and forthwith wrong.

The Sonic games may be a bit faulty, but to say they are worse than Beyblade?  Than Nickelodeon Party Blast?  Than SCORPION KING?  THAN CHARLIE'S ANGELS?  Quit scraping the top and middle of the barrel.  Start on the bottom for the worst titles.

Well, alot of people posting here choose by  what they own, and most people don't own games that are REALLY crappy (there are exceptions of course)..  So I would expect some pretty good games on this list.  but seriously....Mario sunshine?!

Worst game in my collection is "Agent Under Fire."  Stupid EA tricked me by making "Goldeneye" really good.  Stupid EA.  I hate them. *har-umph*

How about just taking Goldeneye and running it through a JuiceMan to deliver garbage.  Agent Under Fire was one the worst gameplay experiences I ever had.  Why won't you let me aim with the left-analog, EA?  Fuq Yoo EA.

you didnt like prince of persia- thats one of the best games to come out on consoles this year (in my opinion)
i would say this is one of the front runners for game of the year right behing zelda wind waker- i loved prince

Why do people like it? I have yet to see one good reason it doesn't suck. This as opposed to:

Horrible gameplay.
Horrible fighting.
Horrible lack of difficulty.
Horrible glitches.
Horrible replayability.
Horrible story.
Horrible linearity.
Horrible lack of depth.
Horrible ending.

I mean, even SFA just had horrible replayability and fighting, and I hate it too.

The only good things about it IMO were the animation/graphics and the way the fighting looks even if you're just pressing the same buttons over and over and over again. But then again, SFA had those too.

i guess you didnt like PoP then- i myself loved the game for some of the reasons you hated the game
i thought first and foremost the gameplay was great- it reminded me of one of my personal favorite games on the ps2-ICO- which is in the same vein of PoP- an enviornmental puzzle game- i will say the game was a tad on the easy side- but it was intentional- if there was no time controling in the game it probably would be more difficult since you would have to attempt jumps and puzzles again if you messed up- and i thought the combat in the game was great- sure it was a little repetative but it wasnt that bad- once you found the patterns to the enemies it became easier- and i found that the inclusion of time control was very interesting- you could turn back time if you mistimed a jump, enemies surrounded you, you get hit from behind, and so on- and last of all- i thought the story was great- its nothing to critically praise but it tied everything together and i found it rather good- and the ending to me was satisfying (although a little expected)

also- what glitches do you speak about in the game- i found none when i played- but i have heard there were glitches
i call the big one bitey.

You're the first person I've ever seen sticking up for PoP's fighting. The fighting was truly atrocious.

Just because it was intentionally easy doesn't mean its difficulty was a good thing. I mean, PLEASE explain why they had all those visions. I dare you to come up with an explanation for that. Personally, I felt INSULTED seeing vision after vision telling me "do this exactly this way to get to the next fight". I'm not a retard, Ubisoft, thank you very much. I started skipping all those insults to my intelligence and it was still too easy.

I get the feeling the time control stuff was put in as an afterthought, just to make the fights possible to complete, with all the crappy stuff that happens to you in fights that you don't have control over. Don't even get me started on that whiny princess bitch.

A couple glitches I experienced:
Princess collapsed on a level floor for no reason, dead from a heart attack apparently. No enemies around.
Tried to save near the end of the game, but it didn't save properly... got caught in a vicious cycle of black screens, weird sounds and automatic loading and saving and ended up in a completely different place, probably because I had to skip the cutscene.
Final boss - I'm giving Ubisoft credit here by labelling this as a glitch. I sincerely hope it wasn't put there on purpose. Giving them the benefit of the doubt here is the only thing stopping me from killing all their employees to stop the spread of stupid genes.

And one more thing - no subtitles. How hard could it be to copy and paste the stupid script their voice actors use? Probably not a problem for you, but I'm hearing-impaired so this just cements my point of view that PoP is the worst a game can possibly get. Superman 64 had to be better than this.

I didn't like SMS, so I think it's a valid addition. That dislike wasn't of the "Mario 64 was better" kind (never played that game), I hated it because... well, I hated every moment playing it after a few hours. Those few hours were mostly coming to grips with the controls, etc. It'd be better with checkpoints so you don't have to go through the entire level again when dying at the end.
Soul Calibur II's weapon master deserves a dishonourable mention as well, no game since Counterstrike made me this angry. I hate games doing that.

The camera in SMS was perfect- if I wasn't happy with its placement at any time, I could move it to the perfect position. In my opinion, every third person game should have a camera like SMS's and WW's.

Also, SMS handled almost exactly like SM64 (which was most people's biggest gripe about the game, that it didn't change much from its predecessor)- I find it very hard to believe you could like one and not the other. I think Deguello's right- is SMS REALLY worse than Universal Studios or Charlie's Angels? It looks more like you're just trying to ruffle some feathers.

Though I love SMS, remember it's overall scope was smaller than SM64, since Mario did not fly nor swim "freely," which in turn limited the scope and variety in the stages.

The camera is Super Mario Sunshine is my favourite camera in a videogame ever. It just feels so awesome having so much control of it, and i feel so 1337 when im hovering over something really high in the air while rotating the camera skillfully, the camera is part of the gameplay. Ah, what wonderful draw distances SMS has. I think Super Mario 64 is better though, because controlling Mario in SMS (running around) was way too "tight" and "fast", like you could turn around in an instant when you turn the other way, and you can run around in circles faster.. etc.. bleh it's hard to explain, i noticed the same thing when comparing OoT and MM to Wind Waker also, which is one reason i like OoT and MM better than Wind Waker, the moving around was more "solid" in OoT and MM, compared to Wind Waker, same as Super Mario 64 compared to SMS. Also, SM64 has way more variety than SMS in the levels, and lot's of other things that i can't be bothered explaining. SM64 > SMS > 95% of games out there.

Anyway, I might get flamed for this or whatever, but personally i think Animal Crossing is the worst game in my collection of 27 GCN games. It's way too boring, i enjoyed it for a day, but then i got really bored, and haven't played it since. Meh. I know it's not the worst, but it's the worst game i own.

Super Mario Sunshine's camera was better than Super Mario 64's but still far from perfect.  It still did the same thing that nearly every camera does that just royally pisses me off: it got stuck on things.  If something was in the way of the camera's path the camera was stuck on it like a real life camera man would be.  If something got in the way of Mario all I could see was a silhouette which was ultimately pretty useless for figuring out where I was in relation to things.  I don't know why but a lot of cameras in games operate as if they're a real physical object that thus have to manuever around other objects.  That's ridiculous.  It's a game.  The camera should be able to do whatever I want it to.

When I first played Ocarina of Time I thought it was the perfect camera until I played Wind Waker which truly does have the perfect camera.  I can move the camera where I want and if I want to go behind my character I press a button and the camera instantly teleports behind.  It doesn't rotate around and get stuck on sh!t it teleports to where it should be.  Super Mario Sunshine's was decent but not even Ocarina of Time level.

However I overall liked Super Mario Sunshine and would never put it in any worst of all time lists (except maybe for worst Mario platformer).  It was a good game with some flaws that got overly-criticized because everyone (perhaps rightfully so) expected much better.  My main problem was with the controls that were actually too responsive.  Too many times I would try to take a half step back and Mario would take a huge step because I pulled back too hard trying to avoid a ledge or I would try to jump and ended up back flipping over the edge.  Other problems I have with it I've discussed in other threads.  They're mainly the island theme, the removal of flight, and the permanent waterpack stuff.

Yes! That's exactly one of the things i was trying to say, thank you.

You imply that you like Wind Wakers camera more than Super Mario Sunshines? I don't really see the difference, they seem exactly the same to me, except Wind Wakers camera is more stiff, sometimes too stiff, which is why i prefer Super Mario Sunshines. *shrug*

Was that directed at me?  Seriously.  I said "very good" describing Goldeneye, which I'm sure you'll agree is, very good indeed.  (I said something along those lines......don't remember......)

I also said "pretty good" but that wasn't describing agent under fire, I was just saying that if people are telling us the worst game in their collection, and they have a collection of high quality title, you're going to get some "pretty good" games brought up in this disscussion.  Such as SMS or AC.  They're far form the worst games on the cube, but they can certainly be the worst games in the particular person's collection.

I said Agent Under Fire was the worst game in my collection.  Just for clarification.

they put an options menu in the game for a reason, man.  i have it set up where you move around with the left analog and control the camera/aiming with the right, just like every console game that has used dual analogs in the last few years.  me and my friends have played the heck out of AUF and it absolutely smokes Goldeneye in the multiplayer dept.  if you still own it and have not played the Escort mission in Death Match, you havent experienced that game.

The difference between SMS' and WW's camera isn't that important, the problem is that SMS requires much more precise and quick movements than Zelda. The camera can get into the way with those. Most of the time it was not a problem, but when you were quickly changing directions (difficult jumps, running along small ledges) it could confuse you or prevent depth perception, etc.

WRONG!!!

I cannot put into word my hatred for this game.  It has nothing to do with anything else,  except the fact I didnt like the game, no alterior motives what so ever.
The camera, the colors, the movement gave me headaches beyond believe. I honestly couldnt play the game for more than 20 minutes at a time.
So dont jump to conclusion because YOU thought it was great. I honestly didnt like it all, had no fun playing it and havent touched it since.

You would even play it more than this game?

If you legitimately hate Super Mario Sunshine you're allowed to.  What bugs me though is when someone hates Super Mario Sunshine so much that they sell their Cube and claim they'll never buy anything from Nintendo.  I believe there's a guy on the Penny Arcade forum who sold his Cube just because of that.
