Has anything been said about cross-saves between switch 1 and 2?

I haven't seen Nintendo come out and actually confirm cross-saves, but considering their official page on Switch 2 "Enhanced" games very concretely describes the Switch 2 versions as "updates" to the Switch 1 games (and not unique versions, and Nintendo just confirmed that all the Switch 2 version "Game Cards" are just Switch 1 versions with mandatory patches), I think it's safe to save we have cross-saves.

Also, with the Game sharing feature, that makes transferring your saves sound easier. I never had a Switch, but the transferring of digital games and data from Wii to Wii U was pretty straight forward. Nintendo has made it work at least once before.

I know all the talk is about the Price of the consoles and games but there are other factors.  Terrifs mainly and how they are non sensical and even affecting the USA,

So what is something we as gamers can do to lower the price not only by talking to Nintendo online but also with Trump and with our local governments?

It really depends on where they want to manufacture Switch 2s. In 2 years we might have chip plants here in the US capable of making them, but that is 2 years from now. India was at 26% tariffs, Indonesia was at 32%, the cheapest place looks to be Malaysia at 24%, Mexico and Canada were not on the list as the chess plan looks to probably to make a newer newer newer nafta agreement. I'm not sure who else has the capability for the volume of capacity currently. I don't know if this will be resolved by June though. I wonder if the fine for smuggling them in is more than the tariffs? Michael Jordan used to just pay the fines for wearing his shoes on the court.

Assuming this is a serious question, not much.

Nintendo can set the price to whatever it wants. NOA President, Doug Bowser, stated the tariffs "weren’t factored into the pricing" of Switch 2 so chances are, it’d get worse with tariffs. If you oppose the price, don't pay it. There are no alternatives. My expectation is Nintendo would smooth out a price increase in the United States by raising the price everywhere as it can't afford to jeopardize the largest video game market.

As for this administration, LOL. Good luck.

They’re not listening to anyone; this country is getting exactly what it voted for. Referring strictly to the economy, electing a man who inexplicably managed to bankrupt casinos (plural) to run the economy again especially after he tanked it last time was an unfortunate self-own. Anyone with even a basic understanding of tariffs immediately knew they were a fucking terrible idea. Imagine inheriting the best economy and stock market in decades then in less than three months, shooting yourself in the face.

You can try calling your representatives, but in roughly 80 days, they haven't done but jack and **** so I wouldn't expect a ton there. As always, consumers will be left holding the bag.

Then again, I guess there's a scenario where rich donors getting slammed by a destabilized market put pressure on representatives they've backed financially to actually do their jobs, and we get some of those checks and balances. Even if that happens, consumers will still be left holding the bag, but maybe it won't be as egregious.

In 2 years we might have chip plants here in the US capable of making them
LOL. Good luck.

The news is there is a 90 day pause on tariffs on all the listed countries except China. Which, was 75 countries. I'm not sure where all of Switch 2's are being manufactured currently, but I sort have expected companies to switch their supply chains after 2020 away from China. At least that is what many companies were doing. According to a google search Nintendo diversified and started making some of its supply chain in Vietnam and Cambodia. So, we might be out of the woods at least for 90 days. I expect Vietnam will woo the administration in the long term. They have been geostrategic US partners.

Here’s a link if anyone wants to read up on it.

Friendly reminder that announcing tariffs then delaying them is stock manipulation.

And those who knew about the delay and bought stocks on the downswing are engaging in insider trading which is, in fact, illegal.

Also, no one is going to be held accountable for this because LOL-America.

I’m going to buy Switch 2 before this becomes an even bigger flustercuck. I can’t believe this is real life.

From my understanding they were moved from China to Vietnam and Cambodia from the last time he was in office.

I know that only a few first part games have been announced but I feel like there are quite a few that we are all assuming will be released. Here are some of the series where I am expecting a new game for Switch 2 in the next year or two:
  • Splatoon
  • Animal Crossing
  • Fire Emblem
  • 3D Mario
  • Yoshi
  • Mario Sports
  • Mario Party
  • Xenoblade
  • Mario Maker
  • Smash Bros.

Now we do know about a Switch 2 upgrade for Mario Party so I would not expect that the first year, but maybe the second. Also, with the new Donkey Kong being a 3D platformer, a new 3D Mario might also be further away.

So do you think we will get new entries in these games on Switch 2 anytime soon?
Any other series you are expecting to be returning?

My brother will be trying to get a pre order at launch, but he told me that his actual killer apps will be Splatoon and Animal Crossing, so in truth he won't be too bothered if he misses out.

I'm a little surprised Splatoon 4 isn't available inSwitch 2's first calendar year, it was available pretty early for the Switch 1 and was a great push for online play and a bit more of a core-gamer/e-sport vibe. In comparison the Switch 2 is left feeling a little bit more clean-fun-generic without it.

As for Animal Crossing that hit in Switch 1 calendar year 4, but I feel like they'd totally want it earlier than that for Switch 2. I wouldn't fault Nintendo for trying to get their evergreens like Animal Crossing out in 2026, it would be a huge title to use to entice people to upgrade to Switch 2.

Smash Bros. is an open question. Like Splatoon it's another franchise that will bring in a more traditional/core gamer crowd. But it takes a LOT of effort to develop, so honestly I wonder if it's going to be a longer wait this time... especially with Sakurai focused on Kirby Air Riders instead. I'm happy for Sakurai and Air Riders, but this makes me a little more glass half empty on Smash...

Mario Party has definitely been coming in at a pretty high frequency towards the end of the Switch 2's life... I don't see it coming in 2026, that'd be exhausting after just upgrading Jamboree. But maybe 2027? But Mario Party is still so useful for an expanded audience, it'll be hard to resist getting it in play. Though at Switch 2 prices, it might have more effect after the launch frenzy and maybe if prices can find a way of stinging less so more casual fans can feel safe to upgrade...

Based on what I have read, the demand for switch 2 pre-orders has far exceeded the supply. I remember hearing that the initial launch was delayed so that enough stock could be built up to avoid this issue. Do we think that those rumors were not true, or has that delay allowed the demand to build up just as much?

I struck out with the normal retailers, but I am in the MyNintendo store lottery so fingers crossed.

I think the presell numbers are just a portion of the total launch numbers.

Also, it doesn't look like you can still preorder on Walmart.com.  I'm not clicking it for fear of getting my order canceled for it thinking I'm a bot, but the preorder button is showing right now. 🤣

It's hard to tell from the preorder circus what real sentiment from buyers is, or what real supply is. How much of that chaos was caused by scalpers and bots? How many of those people were on all retailer sites simultaneously because they couldn't trust any single one to come through for them? How many are doing it now for fear of price increases in the future?

The TRUE test for supply and demand will be Holiday 2025, and the doldrums of early mid 2026.

I mean this is the successor to a system that sold over 150 million units and has a super ambitious sequel at launch to a game that sold close to 70 million units.  Even without bots and scalpers, the demand for the Switch 2 at launch it going to be huge.  If Nintendo can produce enough systems this thing could easily be getting record breaking sales every month for the next year.
