The one that's "out of the race" is actually the PS2 since they've already won.  The real "race" is between MS and Nintendo for second place and that won't be over until the end of this generation.

In terms of consoles sold yes. But profits, no. Sony is second place in profits.

We have herd of this guy before. He was the one who said Silicon Knights were no longer working for Nintendo after Eternal Darkness because they were currently working on a title for another system. (That title ended up being twin snakes for the Gamecube.

once again, it all boils down to "who really gives a shiit".
Why let things like this get your panties in such a knot. Anyone, and I mean anyone who can read a November sales report can see that this is garbage.
I for one am real anxious to see how MS responds to large amount of cube sales as of late, because as Ian said, the real race is for second, and NIN just bought a new pair of sneakers.
MS imo has to respond, and quickly before NIN pulls away to far. I know for sure the Tetris Worlds, KOTOR holiday pack isnt the answer., neither is a $99 X-box as that would be financial suicide.

I guess time will tell.

They have the Tetris Worlds and Clone Wars X-Box Bundle, with Live. They should pack in Halo or KOTOR.

What a fool.

In my opinion, I believe Nintendo, and GameCube, to be the ultimate victors of the console race. Most profit.

Also, while I only see X-Boxs games pretty much declared garbage, PS2 and GCN's games are praised. Metroid Prime... Wind Waker... SSBM... Mario Sunshine... Animal Crossing. All praised.

I would really only buy PS2 for RPGs (particularly Final Fantasy, possibly), but GameCube is getting a considerable slew of them (Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Garmon Battle, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles). That and its massive amounts of games are the only thing, IMHO, the only thing PS2 has over GameCube.

As for X-Box. I can think of two words to describe it. Wasted potential. Microsoft bought Rare. Good move. Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Terrible game. Considerable amounts of games with potential make the system, but none, IMHO, are enough to warrant a purchase.

Just my 2 cents. I am SICK of people dissin' Cube- saying it is out of the race!

For those of you wondering who John Davison is, he actually was the Editor-in-Chief for Electronic Gaming Monthly a while back.  He left and became the Editor-in-Chief of the Official Playstation Magazine, I believe, although he may no longer be in that role.  I'm rather shocked to see him write something so idiotic, but oh well.  What can you do (besides not read the guys articles )?

I've never been to 1up.com before, but it's a surprisingly interesting website.  I liked their Secret of Mana retrospective.  Actually learned a thing or two and remembered a couple things that I had forgotten.

While I'm as glad as anyone to see the Cube succeeding, I think some of you may need to temper your enthusiasm somewhat.  Before the price cut to $99, the Cube was trailing the XBox by about 1.3 million units in the United States.  That's chump change when compared to the gap between the PS2 and the other systems, but still a pretty hefty amount to consider.  October sales managed to slash the gap to 1.1 million units.  November sales will surely bring that total down below one million, the only question will be by how much?  Anyway, the point is that while the Gamecube is killing the XBox now, it's still behind overall in North America.  I wouldn't start celebrating until Nintendo overtakes the XBox.  I don't think that's possible in 2003 even with a strong holiday season, although I'll happily be proven wrong.  Nintendo will still be in a good position to overtake Microsoft in 2004 if the sales trend holds up.

Ah, I hate EGM.  I get it, but only for the Hsu and Chan comics, and they occassionally have interesting editorials.
