Awakening is a hilarious game. . . when you obtain Marin, you pick her up over your head like everything else. . . not innuendo, but still funny as heck.

I've been keeping a secret.  I've told you all that I have two children.  That's true, but I should have three.  Before my oldest was born, we had another child who would be 12 right now if we hadn't done what we did.  He was only two years old.  He was having a sleepless night but my husband and I wanted to watch Pulp Fiction.  We let him stay up with us while we watched it.  About 3/4 of the way through the film he started acting funny.  He said his head and chest hurt.  I went to comfort him but he exploded before I could do anything to help.  It was the most traumatic moment of my life.

"Almost anything with blood gets an M rating which doesn't really make that much sense since there are plenty of movies with blood in them that get PG-13 ratings. If Perfect Dark was a movie for instance it probably wouldn't get an R rating. "

Well, Perfect Dark was pretty bloody.  There was blood all over the walls, not to mention the death animations and whatnot.  It would probably be PG-13 as a movie, but the movie wouldn't have *near* as much killing as PD.  I mean, PD has dozens of guys to kill per level, each with very bloody results!

Hmm.. so what other 'less obvious' innuendo are there in Zelda games?  I really can't think of any.

Yeah, that happened to my younger brother, who'd be two years younger than me.  Would have been traumatic, except for the fact that I was only five, so I laughed.

(That was good, by the way, Ms. Pikmin.  Funny )

Ok, it's pretty violent. The same as Lord of the Rings really. But where's all this hidden sex you refer to? The closest reference I can think of is Princess Ruto wanting to marry Link. She is naked though. And the women have lots of curves when he is an adult... hm. Ok I gotcha.

VJ's Teen rating is easily explainable. Simply do a little unlocking and of course a little background checking and it's obvious.

As for Melee? Why is it Teen? Ha! The real question you should ask is why is it NOT rated M?! "But UJ...why in the world would Melee be rated M? Heck it doesn't even deserve T!" Quite simple. Besides being able to nab a peek up Peach's skirt and how just plain painful some explosions can look (Not to mention Link can jam a sword in someone's head heh). This M out of nowhere comes from the fact that if you take a cruise over to Sound Test and open up Peach's selections. And, if I remember correctly, go to sounds 6-10, get you some choice sprites, a little imgination, and toss in a splash of perversion? You can make random Nintendo pr0n! Granted I'm not saying this to commit account suicide, just proving that Melee is more than deserving of it's T rating.

Disclaimer: Should any random Nintendo pr0n Flash movies pop up, UJ claims no responsibility for placing the idea in said person's head. However should a comedic clip come from this? Then bring it on! Not enough laughs in the world anyway.
They gave a war, nobody came, imagine all the fuss. They'd have to send themselves instead of...sending us. Yeah (People of the Generation - by Scatman John)

The guy you sell poes to as an adult in OoT mentions being able to run a 'different kind of business' if he was as handsome as Link, then chuckles.

Woah.  I never noticed any of that Zelda stuff, but I have always wondered; the Zelda games are no less violent that Lord of the Rings, yet they earn an E rating...ALWAYS.  Something else I've noticed is that with movies-turned-games (ie. LotR) is that the rating always seems to sport the movie's rating, and vice versa.

Seriously, though, SSB:M is no more violent than its predecessor (except of course for the fact that there's more unlockables, therefore more violent gameplay is consumed, for it is undoubtedly a larger game...but ESRB's stupid, they wouldn't notice that), which earned an E. Honestly, this is confusing.

Sort of off the topic of gaming, but have you read the "great children's novel" The Hobbit?  The Master speaks of molesetation...weird, eh?  So, jpturner, don't let your kid read The Hobbit.  *nods head*

I think the entire idea of the ESRB is kind of stupid.  Look at Japan!  They're in gaming heaven, with no ESRB to be found!  But...then again...they have pr0n gaming...like that one game, "Do you like Hr0ny Bunnies," where you work at a restaurant with a bunch of hr0ny women...in bunny suits...

And no, I don't know that from experience, or anything  I was watching X-Play on TechTV, and they had an episode on gaming life in Japan.  It makes me wonder why we don't have an ESRB for TV shows.

also, and correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the esrb self-regulated?  they probably rate some games hard just because they don't want tipper gore to come in and try to make it so you have to be over 17 to play any game with a weapon in it.

the music industry received a nasty blow with the invention of the parental advisory sticker.  many locations (namely, walmart) won't sell cds with those stickers.  if you lose out on the biggest retailer in the nation, it's going to hurt sales.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Yeah, I was shocked when Melee got a Teen rating. I mean its not exactly happy tree friends...that stuff is grisly gory. I think Nintendo was pushing for the Teen rating to lose their kiddy image early into the GCN's life.

I've never understood that logic for lower sales.  If a CD I want isn't available at Wal-Mart I, get this, BUY IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.  Seriously what sort of dipsh!t wouldn't buy something because Wal-Mart doesn't carry it?  And now with the popularity of the internet it makes less of a difference.  If I was a musician and Wal-Mart didn't want to carry my album because of objectionable content I'd tell them to go f*ck themselves.  If people want something they'll buy it regardless of where it's sold.

To attempt to get back on topic I have also noticed some of the stimulating Peach sound effects in Smash Bros.  Of course an innocent child would never come to such a conclusion so that shouldn't matter.  One can interpret sexual references out of anything.

Actually, in some ways the stickers help sales. It will entice some people to buy the cd's.

yeah - id say its safe for a 9 year old.  the only suggestive themes he will notice is silvia being extra uhm, needing at the beginning for some loving from joe, but its nothing you dont see in a pg rated movie.

then again, in the city levels, there are some billboards advertising strip clubs and transsexual stuff...  i doubt a 9 year old would notice it though...

Zelda is *NOT* as violent as LOTR.  LOTR has bountiful decapitations, piles of bodies, heads on sticks, orc cannabilism... Zelda has nothing but enemies disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
