I just finished Eternal Darkness*spoilers*
« on: November 27, 2003, 10:26:08 AM »
Better late than never, right?  Anyway, this game is great.  I had it sitting here since February, and i was only 2 hours in .  Until last weekend, i decided to give it a go, and the story just grabbed me at about 3 hours .  My favorite chapter had to be the chapter during the war, it was just so immersive.  I also enjoyed the chapter when you're the monk, and locked in a room.  The insanity effects were great.  Once, while trying to save, which i forgot to do numerous times, it said 'delete all files' and clicked yes.  I was like 'nooo!'  Of course, everything was fine, but when youre caught up in the game, they work real well.  Another one was the volume being turned down, which only happened once, but i yelled at my girlfriend.  Twas funny.  Now, my only problem with the game, the ending.  I liked it, but it was anti-climatic because beating Pious wasn't difficult, and instead of a lengthy cut scene at the end, its very brief.  Now, on to my questions.  Does the game change much depending which color you take?  I took the green path(all enemies were xel'letoth).  I'm considering starting over if there are major differences or different endings.  So any info would be greatly blah blah blah.  I highly reccomend anybody who played a little of this game, and didn't like it, give it a few hours.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I am currently too ill to answer all of your questions, so I will just answer your last one.  The differences between scenarios are fairly negligable, and the endings don't differ a lot, but I would advise doing it anyway, simply because it's THAT good of a game.

There are a few small changes between the different paths, most notably the boss you fight as Paul and the Ancient controlling Pious, but it's nearly the same. Depending on the path, too, the enemies will have different default alignment. So the green path will have more affect on your sanity, the red path will ramp up the damage enemies do, etc. The main reason to play all 3 paths is to get the epilogue that explains a lot of the story.

mouse, The epilogue isn't that special, as it's greatly hinted at in the other endings.

Eternal Darkness is an awsome game! I'm on my third time through. I hear that after you beat it three times with each alignment there is a secret ending...

And Silicon Knights, the guys that made the game, rule!! Hehe, I live 5 mins away from their headquarters...

It's more fun to show it to your friends than it is to play it after you beat it. Share the love today! Watching them jump like three times at once at the bathtub thing is still also comedy gold.

Also, you can get it for like 12 bucks at GameStop

I just finished it aswell. I was a little disapointed that the ending resembled more of a cheesey movie (Alex does humanity speech, Pious laughs evily and is ignorant) than anything else, but I enjoyed the game very much none the less. Eep that bath thing scared me the first time I saw it! I was in an unfimiliar house, playing it with some friends at 4am. We thought the game would have lots of stuff like that, but we soon got used to the general non-scaryness of it. Then it happened. We just all decided to sleep in front of the TV until it got light...

Yeah, well, I've beaten it three times, once on each path, you get a special ending if you do so.  The epilogue is very interesting.
