Best solution for GC on on my PC monitor?
« on: November 23, 2003, 08:45:24 PM »
I've been investigating several options for hooking my Gamecube to my 21" CRT monitor. I've seen VGA cables and adapters from various websites:

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/ambery/tvtopcvgavic.html
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=221&products_id=3235&PHPSESSID=f44e318fc2dd0a41db10cae60328fbb0

I'm trying to figure out what's going to give me the best possible image and highest reolution. I've even been wondering if getting an HDTV tuner card might be an option. HDTV tuner cards have various inputs and DVI output which would work with one of my TFT LCD screens. But will it work?

Does anyone know what's the best hookup? I don't care if it has to run through my PC via software or just to my monitor. I just want high-res CG action. I'm also aware of the progressive scan issue -- that some games won't work with some VGA adapters. The games i want to play are progressive scan compatible so that's not even an issue either.

Thanks for any tips. If anyone knows of any reviews, FAQs or whitepapers on this, that would be especially helpful.

The VGA Cable from Golden Shop, the others won't offer any better image quality or higher resolution.

Thanks. Sorry for posting in the wrong place. Looks like I'll go with an ATI All-in-Wonder or something.

Yes, I have the All In Wonder 128 mb.  I also have the vga cable that I imported.  I can't have both hookups running simultaneously.  So If I want to play progressive scan, I just hook that up.  If I want to chat and browse the boards like I am now while playing, I will hook it up through the s-video port for video.  But, that doesn't give any higher resolution necesarily, but it still is fun.  And heck if you want, you will be able to record your gaming forever and for all to see!!  This is also the card that I have used to record all those tv commercials for games.

I have the winfast tv 2000xp deluxe(Very long winded title).  Its nice but their is no audio input for gaming and video devices.  The TV and radio have sound just no sound input for the red white and yellow chords.  Im not sure if it runs in progressive scan, although it does have input for s-video.  That might be an alternative.
