Topic: DSL blues

Ok, I just got DSL and I'm having a few problems that I'm hoping someone can help me with. (Also it may be of some importance that I recently upgraded to Mac OS X.3) I cannot access my website on angelfire (www.angelfire.com/super2/syko/index.html), I cannot view some images such as Bill's, ThePerm's, and swordsplay's avatars, and when I watch quicktime movies the quality is more like a lack thereof. If anyone knows how to fix any of these problems, your help would be greatly appreciated. (GN, I'll alot you 1.27 posts to bash Mac. After that, I'm gonna hafta chop someone's "little hobbit". )  

EDIT: Ok this is really puzzling now. I check in on another computer and I could see my avatar and everyone elses'. What is going ON?!

Oh come on. I know someone knows what's wrong. There are too many people on these forums for there to be NO ONE who knows what's wrong. AHH! Oh well. (PLEASE HELP)

well.  the problem obviously isn't the DSL connection.  it pulls in the same internet information that every other internet connection does (with the exception of filtered connections, which would not cause this specific of a problem.  

this leave the problem solely on your computer.  now, my first recommendation would be to throw it away and build yourself a PC, but that's another topic entirely.  backup your stuff, re-format your harddrive, and start over.  with stupid random problems like that, the dirtiest solution is usually the best.  if it's anything like Windows (i know what you guys are thinking, and i know it isn't) once things start to get messed up like that, it is best to start over.  but that is just from my experience.  but that's just me.  i'd rather spend an evening formatting and re-installing than a week or so troubleshooting in the dark.

Ok, so the computer is the problem. Well that's good. I'm getting a new one today. YAY! Could there also be some plug in I'm missing for my browser (Safari)?

Perhaps, it would do you good to check the settings in Jaguar, perhaps there was something changed when you upgraded.

By Jaguar I assume you mean the OS. I'm not on Jaguar. I upgraded to Panther. Grrr. I'll be sure to check though.

Panther eh? Been hearing quite a few issues with it, no doubt its an OS setting at this point.

Issues? What kinds? I haven't noticed any. Shoot, I hope I didn't just get screwed. Well, I dunno what was up with Angelfire, but I can finally see everyone's avatars including mine and I can once again accenss my site. HURRAY! One last problem. When I play quicktime movies (streaming video I believe?) I can see them and hear them, but I can't get color unless I press the pause button. Then that one frame has color. Yay.... would the connection speed I set Quicktime affect this at all?
