Worms 3d, a dilemma
« on: October 29, 2003, 08:01:10 AM »
I have a problem, both the PC and Gamecube version of worms 3d comes out soon, the GCN version this friday, and the PC version a week or two afterwards, now the trouble is, i don't know which version to get, the GCN version is $70 and the PC version is $50, now i don't know much about the game, so i was hoping if someone could answer some questions for me. namely, does the PC version have an online option, and is it worth it (its worms, multiplayer is its stong point, so im assuming it would be) and two are the versions relativly identical, i kinda want it for gamecube, because i play more games on that while i'm using the net and stuff, so it would be a conveniance there.. but then PC version is $20 cheeper.. damn dilemma

I'LL ASK THE MAGI!
caspa, melchior, balthazar, which worms will i get?!

Yeh, I'm after people's opinions of this as well! I love Worms and I am definitely getting this game, which system is the question though!

Maybe checking the Worms 3D website might help?

Hmm. I checked Worms3D.com and they had demos of the actual game out. I downloaded it thinking it was a trailor. The game itself is pretty hard because of the whole 3D thing. Aiming is a b!tch but thats only after playing it for 10 minutes.

I am having a similar dilemma.  I am studying in the UK right now but my gamecube is NTSC(US).  I read on one of the forums that it doesnt have the 60hz start-up like some other PAL games.  If someone can check this out to verify this, it would be great.  If a US release date was announced I would decide whether it is better to wait or if its good to import.  :-/

The other question and if there are any PAL gamers that can answer it given that there was none when I asked in the Import section, does the PAL version of Doshin the Giant start in 60hz mode when the b butten is held down.  Were there any other games besides rugby and soccer that were only released in the UK that would be nice to know as well.

Thx

Thats Gaspar! I can't recommend either of them for you, but if you choose the GC version, try to preorder it now. There was such a shortage of Worms: Armageddon for the N64 in my region that a week after it was out, I would have had to wait a whole year until I got a copy.

let me teach you a useful key combination ALT+TAB it minimizes the game so, while it is not your turn you can surf the net at your leisure! Also, I would get the PC version becuase of it's onlineness and easier (from my experience) than console controls. Mouse+Keyboard beats the pants off of a controller any day.

... i'm quite well versed in shortcut keys thank you, but alt tabbing every two seconds to talk to people isn't really my idea of fun, its alot easier to pause my game type something then move on. especially considering the close proximity of my tv/cube to my pc (mere centemeters apart)

i have worms armageddon for n64 ^_^ got it the day it came out, and i prefered the n64 version to the PC version for that, another reason why im kinda leaning towards getting the gcn version of worms 3d.

has anyone played either of them yet?

It's a turn-based 2-D shooter, it's very similar to this free game: Gunbound. Obviosly this latest encarnation will be a bit different becuase of it's 3-Dness.

I didnt like the original , 2d worms games but worms 3d is a completley diffreent game...and PIAC believe when i say this..some levels are as dark as hell...If you think brightness might be a problem then the gamecube version is the way for you to go.

knowsnothing, i may not know you very well, infact i may knownothing of your personality but something gives me the feeling you would like the worms franchise, it's a step forward in carazy games. try finding worms armageddon for n64 (if you have one) or worms world party for the PC, it doesn't exactly need high specs, so you should be able to run it.

*goes to download the demo*

screeming edit of doom: wowee, worms 3d is awsome! i think i might get it for PC..
