Fable is a....fable?
« on: September 20, 2003, 06:35:08 AM »
Its been reported the most recent build of Fable (the self-annointed world changing best RPG of all time) at X03 had nothing to show except "a guy swinging an axe in the woods'".  When asked about this, Peter Molynaux(sp?) said none of the features promised to be groundbreaking have been 'implemented yet".   This guy just sickens me.  He did the same thing with Black & white...talking all this stuff about how groundbreaking it would be, and barely scratched the surface of any of his promises.  This was one game i was interested in,(though i despised the bluster coming out of camp xbox about it.) and now, it seems hes back to over-thinking everything and exhausting other peoples wallets.  Get the thing done...its been almost 2 stinking years!

i personally love black and white, but it was not as innovative as i thought it would be- it was a pretty good game though- fable looks good, but i have yet to see anything on the combat- which is what is really important in an rpg- in fact, a battle system is the most important part- and all i know is that the combat is in real time- fable could turn out to be great, but i doubt it will be the best rpg of all time- it may be good though- but the game will definately not release until next year at the earliest- so i guess we shall see then how the game is
i call the big one bitey.

Haha, you must have horrible patience if you expect someone to complete a quality rpg in just 2 years. I say 5 is fair.

LMAO @ AERO.  Baten Kaitos comes out this year in Japan.  GameCube has been out for about 2 years... dev kits have been around for about 2.5 years.  I wonder how long Monolith has been working on the game?    Tales of Symphonia recently came out, and Famitsu said that "This is how RPGs should be made".  Coming from a Japanese gaming magazine, I think that's pretty indicative that it's a complete quality RPG.    I wonder how long Namco has been developing the game?

I am just glad that PS2 and GCN developers don't think games should take 5 years to develop.  We wouldn't have any GCN games until the N5 comes out.
Once I had, a little game
I liked to crawl back into my brain
I think you know the game I mean

5 years for an RPG is too long, however 5 years for a Molyneaux game is realistic. Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, etc. This man is notorious for delays.
If his negotiations* are successful I'll get to see whether he'll keep his promises.

*) Molyneaux wants to make Fable non-exclusive. He is in negotiations with MS to bring it out on PC as well. Source: PC Games.
