GTA3 and Vice city double pack will be released for the PS2 in North America on October 22 2003, with the xbox double pack being released on November 4, 2003. FFS, WHERES THE GAMECUBE VERSION? ;__;

There goes any chance Nintendo had of possibly scoring decent sales this holiday season. -___-

well technically i think most people who own a ps2 would have those games already if they wanted them- so i doubt this package will sell as good on the ps2- but the xbox may be a different story- people could buy the packs on that system (assuming that they dont own a ps2 already) and it could sell a lot of copies- but we shall see

even with the pack releasing i dont think it will sell as much since most people that want the game already have it in one way or another (ps2 or pc)- but i think nintendo will have a great christmas sales time- due mostly to mario kart- that game usually sells pretty good, but we will see come holiday season

So Nintendo is now the only one without GTA. Well that's just perfect. There shouldn't be ANY third party games released on every console but Gamecube. If Nintendo was really serious about attracting third parties then they would be making deals with publishers to make sure this rarely happens.

This is a pity. I'm not much of a fan of GTA, but millions of others are. I don't see this burning the charts since most people that want already owns it, but it'll probably shadow GCN sales. "Looks" like another failed Christmas holidays for GameCube.

I don't think this pack will do a whole lot for Microsoft either. Not only does it come out later than Sony's own pack, but also much speculation is already being made about Sony scoring GTA4 for the PS3 before allowing R* to do this. Microsoft is likey the loser in this deal, but still not as much as Nintendo.

This is a glaring example of Nintendo's biggest weakness--the western audience's perception of the GameCube. The fact that it's now the only console that does not have a GTA or any other R* game in the works further gives the impression that either Nintendo has been forsaken by western developers or that they no longer give a damn about America and Europe. NCL is seemingly getting its act together in Japan, but it is being flung to the side in pretty much every other important market.

Gup, you're pretty much the only Nintendo guy I've ever seen who both disliked Grand Theft Auto and yet recognized its benefits at the same time.

Too many times do I see people saying Nintendo doesn't need GTA because it's crap. It's things like that that really piss me off.

Poor GameCube, it misses out on one very good game and one slightly above average semi-sequel. (CAN YOU FIGURE OUT WHICH IS WHICH? *GASP*). Oh well, the Cube's still getting True Crime. That looks quite nifty.

Now that my unbeliveably advanced brain has had some time to think about this, this might turn out to GCs advantage, you see, the Xbox version of this pack is released 4th of November, day before True Crimes, so there is a chance that Xbox owners will buy GTA, which makes True Crimes sales lower, which gives Cube a chance for better sales than Xbox version.

or that very few people are going to get GTA, when its old, and most have probly played it on PC and/or PS2 already.

So I see 3 possible scenarios, 2 good, one bad, bad being that both True crimes and GTA sells really well on Xbox, good ones being that R* gets pissed at MS due to low sales, other is taht Activision gets pissed do to low sales of TC. Fingers crossed.

theres also the possibility that both games will sell well on xbox, and the one game that gc gets(true crime) doesnt sell at all. i'm hoping that doesnt happen, but i fail to see any good at all in the gc not getting these games.

I also have a feeling True Crime won't sell well on GameCube. There seems to be alot of Grand Theft Auto haters on this board. True Crime = GTA.

I doubt anyone would give a damn about GTA3 today. Who wants it has it and who doesn't probably hates it anyway. But then there are many people who think their console and games are important for their image...

Wow I never thought about that / remember that True Crime comes out a day later. Good observation. You could also think that Sony made Rockstar release their Xbox GTA3/VC combo pack so close to screw Xbox True Crime number or Xbox GTA combo numbers to make Sony look better. I mean why would the Sony release be in OCt and the Xbox release right near True Crime. Of course it could just be a coincidence.

KDR: Actually, True Crime started development before GTA3 did (so did the Getaway)- GTA3 just came out first and capitalised on the idea.

And makr my words- this GTA double pack WILL sell well, on both the XBox and PS2. Common sense does not apply to situations like these.

Agreed. I can't believe they're only giving gamers the choice of rap music in the game. A genre I personally can't stand. One of things that made GTAIII so fun was the hilarious radio stations and all the different styles of music. =/

that will probably make me not get the game to be honest :\ unless the PC version (is there a PC version?) lets you put in your own music ala GTA3/VC *hugs mp3s* the radio stations in VC are great though

KDR: Actually, GTA3 is almost 2 years old now. I'm not sure exactly when development for True Crime began, but I saw an interview with it's project lead and he said it began a looooong time ago.

Over at cube- europe, in the q&a section, they say the double pack will "likely" be released for the GC as well, albeit later than xbox and ps2. Dont know why he thinks that

Or maybe Rockstar is releasing it simply to combat True Crimes release. Not some evil conspiracy to make bother games sell badly in comparison. I think if Sony had some evil hand in this as you illude to, they wouldn't let it off the PS2 at all, rather then give the fans the opertunity to own it on xbox, even if it did sell badly.

I seriously doubt the Gamecube is getting the GTA double pack at all. Rockstar got out of it's Sony's exclusivity agreement and could EASILY make the double pack available to GC owners. It didn't. Rockstar has been planning on dumping the exclusivity agreement since the beginning of the year and could have easily had the Gamecube in its plans.

I think you're wrong. Xbox owners, like myself, have been waiting a long, long time for either of these titles to come out for xbox. now BOTH of them are for the price of one game. I went out and bought it the first weekend it was available and I now a bunch of xbox owners that are doing the same. I predict huge sales for this double pack title this holiday. Go XBOX!!!!!!!!!!!

The funny part is, this isn't going to help XBox one bit. The package isn't going to sell XBox's, which is what XBox needs. It might sell a few here and there, but it isn't going to move units like it did on the PS2. I'm sure it will sell very well to current XBox owners, though.
