Author Topic: GB Zeldas connection to Wind Waker...? *possible spoilers for LA, WW, Oracles*  (Read 1955 times)

I've always thought the Oracle games took place after Majora, but then I realized that made no sense and placed them after LttP. I mean, at the end when you beat both of them together, you see Link go off on the boat from Awakening. But I swear... when I beat Wind Waker, it just reminded me of Awakening so much. I forgot about the Oracle games (I don't consider them canon sometimes, since Capcom made them, but they really should be counted anyways. It's not like they're those poor CD-i games), and just imagined Link going off in the KoRL and crashing on Koholint during a storm, like Awakening, assuming Nintendo just hadn't had the KoRL designed at the time they made Awakening.

But then again... he has the Triforce at the beginning of the Oracle games, which are obviously previous to Awakening. And many people consider those as taking place after LttP, since Link clearly has the Triforce at the end of that game. BUT what if Link recovered the Triforce at the end of Wind Waker 2 and was sent to Holodrum and Labrynna to look for the new Hyrule? They have a lot in common with OoT's Hyrule, and it's possible the Triforce was guiding him to possible solutions to the "find your new home" dilemna. Just tossing it out there...

OoT
MM - obviously the beginning of the series

WW- explained in intro that the game takes place years after OoT

LttP
LA- After LttP due to the fact Agahnim is one of the "nightmares" of Link, meaning the Link in LA is the same Link as in LttP

OoA
OoS- After LttP/LA due to the fact that the triforce is together(Though these could be anywhere, there is no other time in the series that the triforce is together like so)

LoZ
AoL- Years after the previous games...Hyrule is reduced to an empty wasteland

Until more games are concocted for the series, this is how my timeline stands.  Though you could be right about the Oracle games coming before LttP if the circumstances are right in the next game.

edit: Oh yeah, about the similar looking boats in LA and the Oracle games.  I believe it's just a coincedence.  Link in the Oracle games is around 10-12, and in LA he is in his late teens.  Not to mention, as shown above, that LA comes sometime after LttP.

NCL's website also explains that Link's Awakening is a continuation of A Link to the Past

and a few other sources

TWW having an ocean with Link on a boat and Link's Awakening having Link on boat are just similar ideas used and not directly related to each other, although certainly it wouldn't be surprising if Link being on a boat on the ocean in TWW is a bit of a throwback to Link's Awakening's opening.  Aryll's original name was based off of Marin's name, and that's why Seagulls are always following her and she has seagulls on her telescope. They also had the game start as a reference to A Link to the Past's opening, where Aryll wakes up Link, like Zelda, who Link then has to later rescue, like Zelda in ALttP. But those are just throwbacks or nods to the older games.

There's not much info about the Oracles besides what they give in the games, the Triforce is whole, Ganon is already dead, the characters in the game are descendants with human ears of the characters from OoT, only certain characters like Link, Impa, and Zelda have Hylian blood with their pointy ears. I guess Oracle's ending kinda refers back to Link's Awakening but that kinda messes things up because they would have had to change the tie to ALttP that LA has, which is changing connections and references, something the other games haven't done.
