actually F-Zero's music by nintendo has always been amazing,
and from recent impressions of F-Zero GX they say the music is phenomenal.
imagine mario bros 1 with licensed music??? do you mean stripping down the music to midi files with no lyrics?, because that's the only way that could've happened.
it's true music can outdate game's faster, but people are not gonna put on mute in say tony hawk when they play it years from now... do people put on mute when they hear classic rock....? NO
do people go out of there way to listen to old songs, buy old albums, listen to old music radio stations, goto concerts of old bands playing songs 30 years old, yes yes yes yes, etc, etc...
it's fun to have real music in some games, but most of the best music in games is made by the videogame companies themselves, especially rpgs.
