I've been seeing a lot of sexually oriented stuff lately, especially today, in my mind.  I'm not quite sure what's wrong with my post, though. . . at least not a bannable offense.

Oh, that'd explain it.  I did a quick analyzation of my post, and all I could see was My God!, which might be something you'd say during. . . stuff.  Glad we got that cleared up

Completely off topic (as if we weren't already), but your icon has always reminded me of A Nightmare Before Christmas, Hostile, one of my favorite movies ever. I don't know what it's actually from, but that's what I always think of.

It's funny you would say that, because I was thinking the same thing.  I think it's just very Tim Burton-esque.  We are big fans of that film.  My husband and I were living in San Francisco when it came out and got to see it opening day when a bunch of people who worked on it were there.  It was fun because they were all so enthusiastic and cheering during the parts they worked on and were clapping like crazy through the credits.

So, how's that for helping the topic to go astray?

I loved Burton's Batman films, too- they were very atmospheric and moody in my opinion, which suits Batman very well (if you want to see an excellent example of this, watch the extraordinarily good animated Batman series).

And I guess we can't really get off topic in this thread since there was never much of a topic to begin with.

His Batman films were the best of the series in my opinion.  Michael Keaton surprisingly was the best Batman.  I like Val Kilmer but i thought he wasn't very good in that role.  I think George Clooney just stunk.  He seems to be the type of actor that can pretty much act one way and that's it.

Some of my favorite films of his are Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Mars Attacks, Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood.  You could definitely say I'm a fan.  I think he's just brilliant.

Batman and Batman Returns are definitely the best in the series- Batman Forever was mediocre and Batman and Robin was downright nasty. It's similar to the Alien movies- first two are great, the third is not so good, and the fourth sucks.

A lot of people came down on Mars Attacks, but I loved it. The guy who does all the voices for the aliens (Frank Welker) did the voice of Freddy on Scooby Doo, as well. He's also the voice of Nibbler on Futurama, too. I bet nobody here knew that.

Heh, never really thought of that, but I can see the resemblance.  It's two characters from a comic book series, "Sandman", which I recommend very strongly.  Even those of you that don't like comic books (I'm not too fond of them myself) might like it.  The writer is Neil Gaiman (may have heard of him. . . writes books, comic books, and did the translation for Princess Mononoke), who, like Tim Burton, is very dark and moody.

The two characters and Dream, the guy on the right and the main character in the comic, and the other is Death, one of his sisters.  The series is basically about Dream (or Morpheus) and his life.  I can't explain it very well, but if you're even remotely interested, I strongly suggest it.  It's got a good deal of mature content, though.  Still, very good.

Neil Gaiman did a great forward about dreams for a collection of H. P. Lovecraft's Dreamquest short stories. Great anthology with a lot of great stories (of course, I like all of Lovecraft's work ). I knew he did Sandman, which I've heard is great, and he's won a ton of awards. Can you recommend somewhere I could get Sandman?

Anyway, speaking of dark and moody, that's Lovecraft for you right there. The man's writing creates such startling images I find myself engrossed in his work more than anyone else's save for Tolkien and Frank Herbert.

I know they have them in the comic section of our Barnes & Noble, so if you have one of those near you, it should be there.  The only one I ever bought came off of Amazon.com.  Also, any comic shops should also have them.  The first one is called Preludes and Nocturnes.

I've never read Lovecraft.  Perhaps I should take a look.

There used to be a great comic store in my small town, where I used to buy all my Flash and Green Lantern comics, but they went out of business. I'll try out Barnes & Noble, though, thanks.

You've NEVRE read Lovecraft? If you've played Eternal Darkness, that takes an incredible amount of source material from Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. You can pick up a number of anthologies for very low prices- VERY good writer.

I haven't actually played ED, though I should.  I'll definitely look at Lovecraft, though.
