Link says it all. If this is true, then Nintendo is stuffed. Not even Mario Kart will be able to counter Halo 2. Also, November has always been the time of big Nintendo launches. In 2001, the Gamecube launched, in 2002, Metroid Prime launched. Looks like Microsoft are going for Nintendo's throat this holiday season.

That would be pretty bad, but wasrnt its estimated release march 2004? I doubt they will release it 5months too early, atleast not without some bugs, and other stuff that happens when game is rushed.

Well there's been a few cases where developers actually bumped up a deadline.

Could it happen. Well yeah, but I wouldn't count on it.

But if you were MS wouldn't you try to get it out prior to the holiday season? And it's not like MS doesn't have the manpower or capital neither.

if i remember correctly, microsoft needs a BIG online game to come out for when the first round of xbox live subscriptions run out in jan/feb of 2004. (it will be the first time consumers have to pay for the service, beyond the $50 starter kit.) halo 2 is most likely that game. if not, microsoft can count on lots of gamers choosing to not renew their xbox live subscriptions.

Unless they were pretending to be taking so long so Sony and Nintendo wouldnt be ready for a surprise launch. Too bad for M$ that Nintendo will now have to announce their completely top secret Pokemon RPG for GCN to be released for XMas

Even if this is true, Nintendo will still do fine with their lineup. I mean Halo II is only one game. So now M$ will have two must own games, oh boy!!

I don't think a pokemon RPG would be a Halo killer, but it would be cool if they did release one.

A Halo killer, that is. Pokemon is cool, but I wouldn't buy it.

It doesn't matter if there are only two must own games. Microsoft has gotten this far with only Halo (I'm not saying there aren't anyother good games, I'm saying there's only one must own exclusive), so Halo two releasing this soon is a big deal.

Why should we be worried if it gets released alongside with Mario Kart? As long as I get Mario Kart, I'm happy. That's all I care about.

I mean, I don't see Halo 2 being a system seller, which the first game was. Anyone who wanted to play Halo would have gotten a xbox now.

I agree. I mean who really cares. I'm getting MKDD no matter what. And Halo II will not be a system seller IMO. People who want Halo II want Halo I and probably already have a XBox. MKDD on the other hand is a completely new type of game for GCN and the previous Mario Kart games have generated a lot of fans who will buy a GCN just for that one game alone. Hell the only reason I still have a N64 if for MK64.

They already have, its called Pokemon Coluseum, and is released December 4th.

Pokemon Colliseum is the Japanese name for Pokemon Stadium- sorry to burst your bubble.

Of COURSE Halo 2 will be a system seller. Anyone who doesn't have an XBox right now but would like one is obviously holding off until Halo 2 is released- that's what I was planning on for a while until I realized I didn't want to spend that much money. Besides, the publicity alone will attract buyers who don't even want to play Halo (god rest their souls).

I imagine that's very few people. But maybe. If I wanted Halo I'd go for my computer. Heck, the controls would be better, too.

Cannot wait for MK: DD. Whether or not it's a system seller, I will get it and play it till the day is done. And then some.

Nintendo kept DK and Starfox. Rareware owns pretty much everything else. So M$ can use conker or whatever, but not DK or Starfox or any of their sub characters.

Hmm. Personally, I'm waiting for Halo on the PC. I've been wanting to try it for some time, but haven't been able to. So there are people who want to play Halo but haven't bought an Xbox yet. Although, admittedly, I don't really want Halo 2 particularly.

Also, remember, Xbox has another big exclusive coming up: Fable. From what I've read about this game, it sounds awesome. But I have no idea when it's supposed to come out and I'm too lazy to check.

Ummm... We already knew this.... Or at least I did. At the EB where I live, they had a big sign that said "HALO 2, October 2003!" But also, I'm sick and tired of these people who are all, "<insert game here> is going to kill <insert console name here> when it comes out!" Even if that was true, could Halo 2 really stand up to the onslaught of Soul Caliber 2 with Link, F-Zero GX, Mario Kart, AND Rebel Strike?
