Twilight Princess Icon Spotted In Wii U eShop
« on: October 13, 2015, 01:31:57 PM »

Coincides nicely with a late night concert.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rumor/41300/twilight-princess-icon-spotted-in-wii-u-eshop

An icon has been unearthed on the eShop that doesn't point to an existing game but could be a sign of a remake coming soon to the Wii U eShop.

A hacker recently unearthed an icon on the Wii U eShop for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The icon does not point to anything downloadable on the eShop, and does not have the traditional icon used for Wii games on Virtual Console of the title screen with a white border.

There has been a long-standing rumor of a remaster being used to fill the 2015 release schedule, but we have no confirmation of it as of yet. The Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess will be performing tonight on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert on CBS, which is likely to be a coincidence but could be an excuse to make a Zelda related announcement.

UPDATE: It appears an entry for Twilight Princess HD (at least in Japan) is now showing on the Wii U update servers according to WiiUBrew.

I would consider this a good sign, because the Gamecube version is expensive for a copy (I was an idiot and traded it in) and I refuse to use the Wii motion controls.

If they do it, goody. If not, then I won't be majorly devastated either.

Another Zelda remake for me to buy, play a couple hours into, and then never finish.

So we could see a situation where the Wii U had remakes of both Gamecube games but no new Zelda designed specifically for it.  That just doesn't seem right. Cue the "Zelda is still coming to the Wii U" optimists.

It would be cool if Nintendo offered a version of TP that allowed for both control schemes.  They clearly didn't offer traditional controls on the Wii version because they wanted to "sell" us on the motion control concept.  There is no need to push any sort of agenda this time.

Does it seem feasible however for Nintendo to reveal something like this out for 2015 with such short notice?  There's really only a six week release window remaining that makes sense for a 2015 release.

I highly doubt we won't see a Zelda game specifically designed for Wii U considering we have already seen such a game running on Wii U hardware with Wii U specific features. The question is if it will be ported to the next platform as well.

Ian, we've seen Nintendo announce a game a month ahead of the release date before.  I wouldn't put it past them to be frantically trying to finish this remake in time for the holiday season just to have something else to fill the Star Fox hole.

I never had a problem with the Twilight Princess controls and loved them for targeting and aiming.  So Wii controls would be great.

This game would probably be really cheap to make for Nintendo.  If all Nintendo needs to do is up the texture resolutions and optimize they could get this done in a few months.

I absolutely hated the Wii remote and the entire concept. I doubt I would appreciate the Wii controls.

I still have my copy of the Gamecube TP, but I have been curious about the Wii controls. Biggest turn off for me was the loss of lefty Link since I am a lefty myself. They should allow you to use both hands for sword fighting. Seems like it would be fitting to make the Hero of Time ambidextrous.

I got the Cube version simply because it was the only Wii launch title that interested me and I already had a Gamecube and it's not like the Wii version was clearly superior so why would I pay for a whole new console for a game on a system I already own?  It's the same reasoning that has kept me from buying a PS4 as a lot of games are still getting PS3 releases.

Of course the Wii version is the first example of "waggle" in a game.  It isn't speculation that they assigned button presses to remote shakes, we KNOW they did it because we have the Cube version as a reference.  And even for those that like motion controls I imagine TP probably feels weird and half-baked after playing Skyward Sword.

I like this game, but I try to not buy games that I already own. I also find it kinda sad how lately we're had more Zelda re-releases and such than new games.

That's because it's cheaper and easier to make these then the real thing and many of the hardcore Zelda fans keep begging for them so it's a win-win for Nintendo.

Plus they're just made by smaller teams or outsourced to other studio's like Grezzo who don't work on the main games anyway so it's not like these games are taking away from the main thing.

I'd buy it day one.  Other than the 2 I didn't care for, Twilight Princess is the only Zelda game I only played through once.  I bought the GCN version and then foolishly traded it in for almost full value since the Wii version was supposed to make it nigh unplayable by comparison.  I only played for 10 or so hours on the Wii and it wasn't the controls alone that caused me to quit (though they would have), the flipped world constantly confused me since I had spent over 50 hours with it the other way.

And even for those that like motion controls I imagine TP probably feels weird and half-baked after playing Skyward Sword.

It felt weird and half-baked in early 2009.
