Topic: DS Lite battery life during GBA sleep mode

I just bought a brand new DS Lite and I'm playing Metroid Zero Mission on it for the first time. I don't want my game to die if I put it in sleep mode, but I don't want to have to start over from the title every time I want to pick up and play. Does anyone know what the DS Lite battery life is like while playing GBA games in sleep mode?

I've decided to test this out. I just charged my DS Lite, and while on the charger I have loaded up Metroid: Zero Mission and put it in "Easy Sleep". Now I will unplug it and check periodically to see how long the battery lasts.

From what I know about GBA sleep mode, it only turns off the screen and speaker, while the cartridge and system circuitry remained powered.

Nintendo states that the DS Lite battery will last from 5-19 hours, depending on gaming conditions and which level of brightness settings are used, but sleep mode is not mentioned. So, maybe after this I'll check NDS game sleep mode so I can compare it with GBA. Mario 64 DS should give a good baseline.

The DS Lite is brand new. Some Canadian big store retailer sold it on Ebay for $79, not knowing how much it was really worth. I have probably only played about 5 hours on it thus far. I will post the results when finished.

For some, maybe not. For me, it's a nostalgia trip to unbox a new, sealed product so many years after it has gone off the shelves. I was originally looking for something to play GBA games on, but the GBA SP's are simply too cramped for my big hands. Gamestop sells DSL's "refurbished" (Gamestop language) for $60, so when I saw a brand spanking new one for $80, I couldn't resist. Strangely enough, it came in a boxed retail bundle with Personal Trainer Math and Imagine Pet Doctor. Apparently the bundle was specific to a certain Canadian chain store. You have to be careful with these "new" claims though, because there are some **** Chinese knock offs out there. Genuine unopened Nintendo-made DS Lites are becoming very rare. For example, Amazon has this silver model listed for $198, but no other models are new and in stock unless you go with other dealers.

Imagine Pet Doctor sounds too stupid to be anything but completely awesome. And I am in Canada...
I actually have a copy of Personal Trainer Math. My wife bought it thinking it would somehow inspire one of our kids. Ha! Wives.

For some reason, people are selling them on Amazon - well *asking* $165+ for brand new DS Lite systems, but used ones are about $35. To each his own, I guess.

Sorry Fatty, my 6 year found the the game and opened it up already. But, Math Trainer is still available. Not sure how many lulz you'll get from that one though...
