Gamecube as a DVD Player
« on: July 01, 2003, 01:36:47 PM »
I'm thinking of buying a Gamecube. I think I remember hearing once that the Gamecube can act as a DVD player, but you have to buy some extra accessory.
Is this true? Can I watch DVDs on the Gamecube?

Thanks,
Mike

You can watch DVDs on a Panasonic Q.  Which is a DVD player/GCN hybrid that's only sold in asian markets.

But really, what's the point?  A DVD player will put you out $50, and will likely do the job much better than a PS2 or Xbox, which are known to have extremely horrible DVD playback.  (PS2 in particular).

Do NOT buy a $50 DVD player.  You'd just be asking for trouble.  I'd be suspicious of anything under $90, and you should buy something better if you plan to buy a new digital TV anytime remotely soon.
