while i was randomly surfing around the net, i came across the genius sonority website... genius sonority of course being a company funded by nintendo's fund-q program (i think) ..

anyway, i dunno if this has been established by anyone yet, but genius sonority's first game will not be an epic rpg or anything truly new or unique... they are developing pokemon colosseum for gamecube.

in fact, browsing other parts of the website, it's revealed that the pokemon company owns a stake in the company.. this probably means that any gamecube version of pokemon is probably gonna be handled by genius sonority, which also means that they'll be too busy making pokemon games to make any epic rpgs that we might have been expecting before... especially since they only have a small team of 32 people according to the website... blah

We've known about Pokemon Coliseum (Pokemon STADIUM stateside) for a long time, man, since before E3. It's nothing new.

I thought it was developed by EAD. I guess that frees them up for an original game or the rumored Pokemon game.

Meh, well I've known Genious Sonority was making a Pokemon game for a long time and I really doubted they'd be making a DIFFERENT game from the 4 or so already in production, so I knew it had to be one of the currently known ones.

Well. I remember the rumors before E3 that said Genius Sonority was making a Pokemon game, and I remember the Pokemon Colloseum announcement. I didn't ever find out who the developer was, or see any screenshots of the game. Now I know the answer to 3 of my questions.

This is a perfect game for Genius Sonority to get their feet wet with.

I CANT WAIT for a pokemon game on gcn. Pokemon Coluseum is gonna rule, i love the stadium games, i just hope colluseum has online mode which will give a purpose to training all my pokemon to level 100.

Pokemon Stadium was never handled by EAD, it was by HAL...and I knew Coliseum wasn't by HAL as soon as I saw those screenshots...I doubt HAL would give such crappy character models after what we saw in Melee...

It's not that dissapointing. Its a new development firm and they would want to get their first games out relitively quickly to get some "revenue" going (there are other forms of revenue than money.) Then go to work on a more indepth sophmore effort.

I don't think they sould have a totally online pokemon just battles and such as an opition.

Well if Nintendo wants to lose the "KiDdEh" image, Pokemon Online wouldn't be the best of ways to kick off an online venture. A online shooter or even a mario kart would be much more than suffice.

EAD developed the Pokemon Stadium series. EAD games
HAL developed Pokemon Snap.

I wouldn't mind if there was no online play, I would settle for a Pokemon RPG with LAN play so we could battle friends.
