The Dreamcast...Good or Bad System??
« on: June 29, 2003, 01:11:50 PM »
The Sega Dreamcast was certainly a different system. I liked the system and I still, but very rarely, play it and it was good while it lasted. What do you guys think about the system and what did you think were its best games??

I think the best games were:

- Original Sonic Adventure (Classic)
- Original Sonic Adventure 2
- Crazy Taxi Series (1 and 2)
- Original Phantasy Star Online Games (Both Versions)
- Soul Cailbur (Classic)
- Sonic Shuffle (Hey, it wasnt THAT bad)
Who loves Vanilla Coke?? I love vanilla coke!

I was considering buying a Dreamcast once, so I could play Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Sonic Adventure, and Space Channel 5.  However, I think the pick of the litter has come to GameCube anyways, so I really have no desire for a Dreamcast these days.  Most of the good games have been either ported or sequelized.

i really loved shenmue 1 and 2...there are a bunch of good games on dc. Space channel 5, tech romancer, soul caliber..but like Grey Ninja said theres no point now. Most those game are beign ported over. But i will say it was great when it was new. That is all that matters.

Sonic Shuffle? C'mon

I only ever owned a DC for a few weeks. Bought it second hand, and the laser was screwed, so I eventually returned it. I did however, have the chance to play Sonic Adventure, Marvel VS Capcom, Ecco and Toy Commander. Enjoyed them all, lots.

Loved that boot up screen, too. Oh my yes.

Power Stone is one of the best games I ever played, me and my friends spent hours playing the poop out of it, hope they make a sequel for GameCube.

There's really too many to name off-hand. Some of the less mainstream titles but excellent titles that come to include Space Channel 5, Rez, Samba de Amigo (and the 2000 "sequel"), Chu Chu Rocket, and Bangai-O, to name a few. It's still a valid system for me now, despite ports, as a lot of my favorite DC games still remain on the system, and it's the more economical choice for certain games, mainly 2D fighters.

Sonic Shuffle was okay, but hardly one of its best games.

The Dreamcast is and was excellent. Too bad its dead, it would have competed with the 3 consoles out now for sure. Definetly get these games:

Sword of the Beserk: Guts Rage (graphics will blow you away)
House of the Dead
Sonic Adventure
Soul Caliber
Grandia 2
Skies of Arcadia
Shenmue
Sega GT (awesome racer)

Thsi si off topic, but to MegaManZero, I've been noticing this alot from you.  Instead of making two posts right next to each other (next to, above, below, whatever), click the edit button and you can change, erase, and add stuff to your post whenever you want, even when somebaody else has posted after you.

oh yeah, dreamcast was great.

He did prove a point though. The dreamcast was beating the PS1 and N64 until the PS2 came around. Then it just went down from there

Anyways..the dreamcast is a system that was good for its time. If it only came out 2 years earlier..

My revamped list of favorites on the dreamcast are:

- Jet Grind Radio
- Sonic Adventure
- Crazy Taxi Series
- Soul Calibur
- Power Stone 2
- Bomberman Online
- Grandia 2
