Nintendo revealed release dates for both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as well as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, both still on track for a 2014 release. Also, more details regarding the Amiibo figures were revealed.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has been confirmed for November 21 in North America (December 6 everywhere else) for $59.99. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be released on December 5 for a suggested retail price of $39.99.

The Amiibo figures were also detailed. Priced at $12.99, they will be released the same day as Smash Bros. for Wii U. The first wave of releases include Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. A second wave in December will contain Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit, and Captain Falcon.

For those wondering about the GameCube adapter and special controller for Smash Bros., both items, including the bundle featuring the game and both the adapter and controller will also launch on November 21 in North Amercia.

The rumoured possibility of either game, or possibly both, moving into next year was frightening.  That would have been the equivalent of Nintendo shooting themselves in the face.  So good to see the stuff didn't move because it absolutely couldn't have.

Nintendo probably could have gotten away with delaying Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker but definitely not Super Smash Bros. If it wasn't sure Super Smash Bros. would definitely make it this holiday season, I feel like it would have shuffled some releases around. I would think Hyrule Warriors would be Nintendo's main holiday title since it's technically a Zelda title. While not a great solution, there's no way Nintendo would march Captain Toad out alone or nothing if it too got delayed. Nintendo does some weird ****, but it isn't that clueless.

Still, I'm curious why Nintendo waited so long to announce the dates. In Super Smash Bros's case, I presume it was Amiibo related. "Do we have enough of those wallet vampires? We do? Good, good."

I doubt Captain Toad being pushed back would have had any real effect on the big picture, but I, like many others here, am very happy that it's still coming this year. Probably the biggest game on the system for me since Donkey Kong.

Captain Toad feels like a at best $30 game to me at the moment.  I could be persuaded otherwise but, not by the material they have out now on the game.

As likely as it was, it's still nice to see the date confirmed for Smash U. I might not get the game right away though, I will probably wait a week and see if there are any Black Friday deals on the game. Something that includes the 3DS version would be ideal.

That could be part of it. What I figured was that they didn't want to take any sort of attention away from the 3DS release.

I have Smash Bros. pre-ordered from K-Mart with $40 in points coming back with it, I'm assuming there's about a 90% chance my pre-order gets cancelled like my Mario Kart 8 pre-order (and like most of their pre-orders it seems) but hopefully their customer service people will be good about fixing it.

I'm excited about Captain Toad and will definitely be picking it up, maybe with the $40 in points if by some miracle the order from K-Mart doesn't get cancelled.
