Become a two year old gamer like me.
Video games depreciate in value ridiculously fast (unless they're rare). And unless I want to support a studio, I wait until it's in the bargain bin or on craigslist. Very rarely do I feel the need to own a game day one. And extremely rarely do I feel I need to own a console day one. It's simply not economical. I have other things I'd rather spend money on; records, instruments, food, travel, booze, what have you.
So unless you're an extremely avid gamer, relax on the games for a bit and soon you'll realize that new games to you are literally two years old or older.
EDIT:
I should probably add to the topic.
I don't see the lack of quality in Nintendo games. Trudging through a console cycle I can see why some wanted more, but I was always on the outside looking in. And they put out some fantastic games for the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game last generation, hands down. Sure it wasn't as cinematic as some of the games on PS3 and Xbox were, but those games never made me smile from the sheer creativity of it all.
Nintendo systems are like that now and I'm fine with it. I'll own every console they put out eventually if they keep making that single game I need to play. That one game that makes owning their console completely worth it.
