Photo of Luigi's Final Smash Unveiled

He's about to clean your clock!

Masahiro Sakurai, director of Super Smash Bros., posted a picture of Luigi's Final Smash on Miiverse. It displays Luigi powering up with the Poltergust 5000--the vacuum/ghost catcher used explicitly in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

Sakurai stated in the post, "Luigi might be thinking, 'Who would've thought I'd get to show off the Poltergust in Super Smash Bros.?!' Wondering if it's going to suck something in? Yeah, it probably will."

I was hoping before he was unveiled that Luigi would get reworked so his entire move set revolved around the Poltergust 5000, even if many of the moves did the same basic thing (e.g. the air chop would be a quick vacuum hose swipe). Alas, it appears it is not to be. Still, I'm glad the vacuum made it into the game. Luigi's Final Smash in Brawl was weird and useless.

I suppose, since Sakurai doesn't explicitly say the Poltergust 5000 is Luigi's Final Smash, that Luigi could have it as part of his regular moveset (maybe in a similar fashion as Zelda's Sheik transformation) and this pic is taken just after the Final Smash is activated where the stage dims and the character glows. I won't hold my breath.

If you used Negative Zone correctly in Brawl, it was a very good Final Smash.

It's about time. The one in Brawl just didn't make sense.

Luigi's final smash being weird? Sure. Useless? Not a chance.

It really depended on the stage, it was a lot easier to use well in smaller arenas. Though, that's probably true of all the final smashes.

I love the liberties Sakurai takes with the characters, usually anyway. Luigi's old final Smash was just too out there for me. Glad we've got something that is inspired by Luigi's actual series.

Nintendo players and One Piece readers, just better people.

It wasn't the best game in the world, but I was hoping that some inspiration might have been taken from Dream Team and it's 'Luiginary' attacks. It would have been awesome to see a hundred Luigis create a human pyramid or join together to create a giant hammer, but in HD!
Gouge away.
