Mark Bussler is my main reason to watch youtube videos. I'm 100% serious. CGR going to dailymotion is a major blow to my evening entertainment routine, because i can't access the site (even from home).

Youtube and Google and general has been going down the drain in the last years. Video playback is constantly broken, they pester you with google plus **** all the time and that horrible POS of a browser Chrome (speaking as a developer)...

I fully expect Lazy Game Reviews to move to Retroware site soon...

I don't mind the integration into G+. I do mind the forced in-your-face attitude it brings - there is no "i dont want to connect them together" option, so i click not now. Repeatedly.

Imagine if Microsoft accidentally changed (and changed back?) everyones IE homepage and default search engines to Bing?

If there's a clear, better alternative, then maybe.

The problems is that most people & businesses are entrenched in Youtube, and it's also now a household name the way Facebook & Twitter is.

I don't really care that much. I already had a Google+ account, and I typically don't leave comments anyway. Most YouTube commentators are pretty terrible people, so now I'm less likely to join in their distasteful hate posts anyway.

No the only true youtube alternatives are Daily Motion and Vevo both of which will probably remain fairly niche. I think despite Google's best efforts to shitcan youtube the service will keep on trucking since its sort of too big to fail at this point. On a pure content level Youtube is at a point that's hard to catch up with.

I don't mind the G+ intergration since I like the service and if it were up to me all of Google's services would even be more melded together.

A more nuanced questions is: Will Youtube's massive bandwith usage ever become more than Google wants to pay for?

The guys who started the site and managed to get millions from Google for it despite then and now not having a real idea of how to monetize it have to be pretty entertained by all this.

I can't believe that the Ad Revenue is bad for YouTube.

The bandwidth and hosting costs for that much video have to be pretty substantial, and whatever ad money they're bringing in has to be split with the content owner.

Youtube's biggest problem isn't having another competitor come in since that probably won't ever happen. They're biggest problem is slowly losing profitable niches to other services. The first big blow happened last year/this year with all the Vevo mess of them spinning everything off to their own website. Now I think were going to see a big chunk of the gaming audience move to green pastures and the rise of Blip or even twitch in this field.

Google doesn't know what to do with youtube, its pretty evident about this when we keep hearing murmurs of a youtube paid music service that does against google's own Play Music.

Twitch could really take a big chuck out of Google by the summer if they start too build their service around not just livestreaming, but regular youtube style uploads as well. The PlayStation 4 has twitch streaming built in, and Steam/Xbox one are getting it early next year.
