Looks like Marvel is trying to get Efron back into their neighborhood.

They don't know the role, only that he received a script.
They are speculating most likely Daredevil, but possibly Nova, Adam Warlock & Dr. Strange, among a few others.
according to Cinemablend, it may not be Marvel that is courting Efron to be in a "Marvel" movie.
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Today-Marvel-Rumor-Universal-Making-Namor-Movie-43039.htmlIt's more speculation on their part than rumor as their source never really gave any sort of specifics or hints other than it may be based on an existing IP and isn't a remake or sequel.
Yesterday, Universal Pictures conspicuously planted a flag on November 4th, 2016, for feature only known right now as Untitled Event Project. With the date being only two years away, it seems unusual that this film would not yet even have a title, but the "event" distinction seems key. Since it was reported that blockbuster-happy Legendary Pictures is involved, speculation has been getting out of control, but the most intriguing idea has to be that the movie is actually Namor, based on the character from Marvel Comics.
Latino-Review reportedly did some detective work and from the intel they have gathered there is a possibility that a Namor movie could be coming in 2016. Their source claims the movie is, "new, and not a sequel or remake, though it may be based on underlying intellectual property." Naturally, that leads one to wonder if it could end up being the big screen emergence of the one Marvel property owned by Universal.
So the timing of a rumor about Efron possibly in a "Marvel" movie, and then Universal securing a future date for an un-named project, with a source claiming it possibly being based on an IP, and the fact that Universal currently holds the license to Namor*, leads to the SPECULATION that it might all be connected.
*I can't remember where I read it, but the Namor license was supposedly renewed to Universal a few years back (2010/2011) and I thought it was a short term extension of 3-4yrs(ends in 2014?)... but it may have been a standard extension of 7 years (ends 2017?). So if that was the case, Universal attempting to put out a movie to capitalize on superhero hype right now, and the added bonus of beating Aquaman to the big screen might make sense. Especially if Marvel was helping them out. But I still believe a mostly underwater live action movie would be really expensive and might not be worth the risk if it wasn't tying in directly to the MCU for support.
so take with a spoonful of salt. We probably won't hear much if anything about either of these 2 things again for a long while
