That's in one of the open labs, but in another main computer lab it's about 4-5x as fast. No idea why I even made this...bored between classes.

I'll try to go in the main lab and run the test. I remember the first time I ran it a year ago it was something like 635Mb/sec.

Haven't tried it (and probably shouldn't since they can trace me), but I could download a full 4.7GB DVD in less than a 45 seconds if the host server let me max out the connection.

The server you connect to can make a huge difference, a lot of them aren't as fast as me which is why the speeds vary so much.

Neat! I'm not from the area; I'm actually from New Orleans. I just live up here now.

As for FiOS, I would say too much. But I get enough internet for all my peripherals, HD cable, HBO, multi-room DVR (which I need to cancel because I'm not using) for about $160/month.

That is a joke. Even here in NZ I can get 100Mbps VDSL for about 25% more than I pay for ADSL @ 16Mbps.
