Looking at the software lineup for 2013 on the Wii U, you'll see that it's missing a lot of the games the other consoles are getting. Outside of Ubisoft's offerings, it's very sparse in terms of non-Nintendo games. So I'm asking, if you could bring only one game from the other platforms this year to Wii U, what would you choose, and why?

Tough one. Before I played Mirror of Fate which reminded me how good Lords of Shadow was, I would have said Tomb Raider. That said, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is my pick. Besides just wanting to see how the series ends and if Mercury Steam manages to include Richter Belmont (and maybe Julius since it's supposed to make good on the epilogue of the 1st game), I really think the game would benefit from the GamePad screen.

I feel somewhat ashamed that my answer to this is probably NHL 14. GamePad functionality would mean the most to me in that game, and since I own the other consoles that's my main criteria for wanting something on Wii U.

I like it when publishers dig through last year's offerings. Heck, even two years before that. It would be awesome if they ported Deus Ex, wouldn't it?

Tomb Raider would have been nice. Bioshock would be nice, too.

If we were to look back at games from previous years, then I think Red Dead Redemption would make a pretty good addition to the Wii U's library. There's nothing quite like it.

Great question, insanolord. It warrants a moment's consideration. Though it may not be my one pick, I would definitely second NHL 14. I'm not a multi-console owner, and it's been far too long since an incredible NHL game appeared on a Nintendo console.

I third NHL '14. Got to have some hockey on Wii U.

I also want whatever mainline Final Fantasy is next. 15, right? Yeah, that one. I'd also take a Wii U port of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.

Rayman Legends.

The question was about third party games that are NOT confirmed to be released on Wii U, so Rayman wouldn't count.

Hmm, maybe Grand Theft Auto V since I love the series and the console entries are always good. Plus, it would give Wii U another advantage over PlayStation 4 since PS4 is not announced as getting the game, nor is Xbox 3.

I thought he was being facetious with Rayman Legends considering the controversy surrounding its delay. Or maybe I'm giving azeke too much credit...

Semi-related, the iPhone tried to auto-correct azeke to Adele.

GTAV would be big for Wii U even if I never got into the series. I'm hoping for a surprise E3 announcement.

GTA V would have a major impact on the Wii U's image.  If it's there, the Wii U is the real deal and can hang with the other new consoles.  If it's not then the Wi U will be seen as the kiddy casual console.  A Nintendo console has NEVER had GTA.  Getting it would be a positive change and something that would generate optimism.

I figure at E3 some third party game will get all the buzz... and it won't be on the Wii U and that sucks.  The Wii U should not get token games, it should be assumed that it will get pretty much everything that isn't exclusive.  That's what healthy third party support is.

True, but I'm pretty sure he meant Nintendo home consoles.

Well if you're going to play that game why not just tell me you consider NSMB U to be a GTA game and that Nintendo already has it?  This isn't post-modern philosophy class.  You can't just redefine terminology as you see fit to support your argument.

What? Chinatown has the name GTA in the freaking title. Obviously NSMB has nothing to do with GTA. And a hanheld game system is a handheld CONSOLE. I'm not doing what you say I'm doing.

When you say "console", it generally means home systems, not handheld systems. This is what most people do.

You chuckleheads need to stop wrecking these threads with your petty squabbles. We haven't had a good discussion in a while.

I'm actually tempted to try Bioshock Infinite because it just looks so good. I'm totally digging the atmosphere. If it was coming to Wii U, I'd probably buy it and risk the POV headaches. Since insano specifically asked what ONE 3rd party game to bring to Wii U, I'm still sticking with Lords of Shadow 2. MercurySteam is two for two. Igarashi's DS Castlevania games were still good (not great), but the series needed the shot in the arm.

Earth Defense Force 2025 would be fantastic if they add a versus mode where one player commands the aliens with the touch screen and the other blow them to bits with a classic controller or Wiimote.

I'm going to go w/ an unusual pick here and say Child of Eden. The Wiimote would be perfect for that game, and Child of Eden was so criminally un-loved on the PS3 and 360 (it's one of my favorite titles of this generation).  Plus, this many years since its original retail release, Ubisoft could just release the game for $15 on the eShop, which is how it should have been released in the first place.

Barring that, I'd say Valkyria Chronicles (another of my Top 5 of this generation), if only to try to get Sega to finally move the series back to consoles where it belongs.  Plus, I could see the map-pad being useful for once in a strategy game like that.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

If the game has to be one that's releasing this year, then nothing's coming to mind. If I can pick a previous release, then the DooM 3 BFG Edition is what I would want on Wii U. Also Borderlands 2. Nothing else is coming to mind at the moment.

I'd say Bioshock Infinite would make me the happiest, especially if they released the first two on the eshop as well.  Or maybe they could release it all in a Bioshock Trilogy next year.
