Haven Returns
« on: May 29, 2003, 10:21:42 AM »
The formerly canceled GameCube game is scheduled for release again, with a different publisher.

Xicat Interactive has picked up the rights to release the formerly canceled GameCube and Xbox versions of Haven: Call of the King. The game was originally developed for Midway by Traveler’s Tales for all three next-gen consoles, but ended up only releasing on PlayStation 2.

Haven is a 3rd person action-adventure title. Players control Haven, the title character, who is trying to free his race form enslavement. Brad Flack, US Director of sales for Xicat Interactive, had this to say: "We're thrilled to be working with Traveler’s Tales to deliver Haven to Xbox and GameCube users. Haven has an exciting storyline and features unrivalled gameplay--we're pleased to add the game to our product lineup."

What seems to be an odd turn of events, a canceled game is ressurected. But the question is:Why? Haven had pitiful sales to begin with, and the reviews were so-so to ok. Traveler made a smart move by canceling it, but if someone else wants to take up the slack, who's really going to complain?

It'll be interesting how it will sell this time around...

What I saw of it has some potential. And it wasn't Travelers that canned it. That was midway. If they put off releasing it right away to add a bit to it maybe it will do better.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.
