The hunt gets the full HD experience in both sound and visuals.

Monster Hunter 3 (tri) G HD Ver., known as Monster Hunter Ultimate in the West, will support full HD visuals running at 1080p on the Wii U. Not only that, but the Wii U version will also utilize Linear PCM 5.1 for sound as well. Players will be able to make use of both of these features using the included HDMI cable included with their Wii U purchase as long as they have the appropriate television and speakers.

Monster Hunter Ultimate for Wii U is set to release on December 8, the Wii U launch in Japan, and in March in the West. Be sure to check out our image gallery for full HD pictures of the game.

I know you can import progress to the the 3DS version, but is there cross-platform local multiplayer as in someone plays on the Wii U and a friend joins the game on the 3DS? It's a shame that the 3DS version doesn't have online multiplayer though this would soften the blow a little.

You are correct. The game does feature cross-platform play between the 3DS and Wii U versions locally.

Not expecting this one to sell all that much.  It's the third (or forth) enhanced release of the same game (MH3) and it's coming only a few months ahead of the next installment (MH4 March) and lastly you can't import your saved files from pervious entries meaning you'll have to replay an 100+ hour game to reach most of the new content since most of it is rated G missions (or whatever the highest teir is).

Nintendo should swipe one of sonys achievements and allow cross buy if your pre order wii u version. Ill settle for a app as well. I am positive I will earn it on both systems.

Does 1080p matter with the low poly models?

Does 1080p matter with the low poly models?
I doubt the models in the end version will really be that low Poly.  Tri is a very pretty game on the Wii.

Even more so than the visuals I'm actually excited about the 5.1 sound.  I hope they do it right because that could really add to this game.

I will be getting both, but I still wish the 3DS had online multiplayer.  At least they still have the local lan ability... right?

To see what it looks like in 1080p, you guys should check out the videos on Capcom's site (the source link at the beginning of the article) or just check out full screen versions of the pics I uploaded for the game earlier. It looks pretty nice, but obviously, with the lower-poly models, it isn't going to blow you away.

Monster Hunter was never a big seller in the west but there are some very dedicated fans (I'm one of them) but its going to be a while before we even see Monster Hunter 4 in the west so I don't think it loses its significance.

Well, its time for me to upgrade my audio receiver.  My current receiver has optical inputs for my PC, 360, and PS3, but unfortunately it doesn't have HDMI inputs for the Wii U or outputs for the TV.  My TV won't pass through 5.1 from the Wii U (hdmi) to the receiver via optical, so no 5.1 until I upgrade
