For reaching one GIGASMITE. That's right, 1,024 smites, all legitimate and without the aid of artificial mod-induced boosts. You clearly have your finger on the pulse of these forums, and are just telling it too real for our collective comfort level. I think I speak for all of us when I say keep up the good work.

I am sure part of it is because one or two posters would smite me every chance I got (partly explains how I got like 20 smite points last September during a two week period when I didn't even visit the forums, yet alone post anything).

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Powers That Be here have some sort of programming string to automatically add 1 smite every time certain people post, because I've just seen way too many "coincidental" smites as soon as I drop a new post. Either that, or there are an awful lot of pricks around here who just have no lives whatsoever, because even I don't write that many controversial posts and I've rarely seen TJ there post at all lately.

Where would Chozo Ghost be in comparison to TJ if he hadn't whined about his karma to the point someone got tired of seeing his crying and just went in and jacked up his karma all together?

I'm thinking it was around -200 or so. That was flipped to a positive, then brought back down to -166... so that puts him at -566 or so. But that doesn't account for the number of folks who may have "applauded" him in order to bring down the absolute value of his positive karma score. But, on that same token, I suppose there might have been a few members who smited him to bring down the absolute value of his negative karma. Then, there were those who were so confused that they didn't know if they should applaud or smite....

I propose the limitation where you have to wait an hour before you can smite someone be lifted so that people can just repeatedly hit the smite button around the clock and not have to wait to do it. We should also get rid of applauds entirely and only have smites.

And btw, isn't 1024 smites a "Kilo smite"? A Megasmite would be 100 times more than that, and a Gigasmite would be 1,000 times more. Am I right?

One day my smite score will exceed that of TJ Spyke. As Uncle Bob pointed out, if my score hadn't been reset it would be much higher than it is now, but that being said I get like 5-10 smites a day it seems like, so eventually I'll catch up.

No, I think it has everything to do with me being one of the people here who doesn't spend their time kissing Nintendo's ass all day. And you know what? It doesn't matter what I say or do here. I make a postitive or neutral post, I get smite-d. I make a skeptical or negative post, I get smite-d and have my Nintendo gaming questioned. We have plenty of folks on here who aren't "Pro-Nintendo" 24/7. In fact, I'd say for a Nintendo fansite, we have surprisingly few of those members. They probably leave in disgust.

Also, brood - you say when you make positive or neutral posts, you get smited. I'm unaware of a way to see exactly which posts one gets smited for. Do you have the ability to view that?

I once heard someone explaining to someone else something that I think applies here.

If one person has a problem with you, then it's probably something personal they need to work through. If *everyone* has a problem with you... the issue likely lies within the one common demoniator.

My problem with the whole smitting thing is it's not by count individuals so really most people are just smitted by the same SOB over and over--most likely what happened in Broods case. I can almost bet that 90% of people smites come from one person :0.

Just don't worry about... as Ymeegod pointed out its probably the same asshole responsible for 90% of them, so its not like the entire site is out to get you. Just one person....

It's not just the smiting thing, but it just feels sometimes that I put a great deal of time into trying to enrich the experience here and be a good (if critical) poster, and I get so much **** for it (like the stupid custom titles placed under your name to mock you). It's like how I'll put several hours into something like my Reader Reviews or research for things like the Press Conference threads each year, and then I'll come back a few hours later and my smite count has jumped 10 points. I just see that numerical representation of the site's dislike increase, and I have to start asking why I even bother coming here if apparently I'm not wanted. So yeah, it's a "meaningless number", but it's still disheartening to see skyrocket when I generally prefer to stay out of people's way on this site.

If someone has a serious problem with me, I'd rather they just talked with me directly instead of hiding behind the rating system. If NinSage and I can work out our differences, I don't see why they would be any different. Because as much as I may have my issues with Nintendo, I'm generally neutral-to-fond of most of the posters on this site and I enjoy the lively (and occasionally heated) discussions here.

Am I so hated on this forum that all of you refuse to make me the most smited person on the forum? I thought all that complaining about Super Wii would get me atleast 500 smites by now. I will have to try harder to topple TJ Spyke's position as the most smited.

As much **** and smites as I give you guys, TJ and broodwars, I appreciate your well articulated posts in the threads I post in, and the content in the more Nintendo-ey threads that I don't post in. You might have a little more fun posting if you embrace the beloved forum badguy role～
