I want to see the Mario Paint franchise revived. With the tablet controller there has never been a better time for this to happen.
WarioWare D.I.Y. is basically the new Mario Paint.

Battalion Wars. The one thing that's always held it back is the clunky interface, but the screen would fix that and be a perfect way to command the troops.

I never thought I'd see myself refering to F-Zero as a dormant franchise, but, well, it's been nine long years since GX. Now that we've got a more traditional controller to play with, if there ever was a time for new F-Zero, this would be it.

Come on Nintendo, don't let me down for yet another year.

Nintendo should really just go balls out and make a super realistic sequel to Sheriff and call it Sheriff 3. Or that but with any other NES game that hasn't seen the light of day in years.

If Star Tropics is Nintendo's Uncharted, then I suppose Sheriff could be their Red Dead Redemption.

I wouldn't really consider that a dormant franchise since it did appear on the Wii, so it hasn't been that long since the last one.

As far as old dormant franchises which could come back, how about Super Scope 6? To be honest I wasn't too impressed with that or the Super Scope peripheral in general, but those minigames like Blastris and Lazer Blazer could work well with the new controls.

I still say Wave Race most of all, and Mario Paint/Mario Artist but...

We could use new versions of both Panel de Pon and Dr. Mario.
And Battle Clash. BATTLE CLASH!!!
And Pokemon Snap. SNAP!!!!!
And Famicom Detective Club. A NINTENDO PHOENIX WRIGHT!!!!!!!

*ahem* Excuse me, I uh... let myself get a little carried away...

This makes me wonder how long is considered dormant, since the last Dr. Mario title came out in 2008 (Dr. Mario Online Rx for WiiWare).

Stunt Race FX. I have absurd amounts of fondness for that game. I would love if they put Monster Games on it.

Well it's kind of dormant as it released early this generation and the steampunk spin off got shut down by Nintendo when they decided to go the casual direction. It doesn't look promising that it will return any time soon.

Nintendo should bring back 1080 snowboarding since SSX isn't as strong as it once was anymore.

I'm not sure if 1080 is the kind of snowboarding game people really want. It's never been anything like SSX. It was much more the Skate to SSX' Tony Hawk.

Wasn't it Dr. Mario Express in 2009?

I only want a new Dr. Mario if they actually add in some major new features. Same with Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack/Puzzle League/Challenge. That game has had more name changes than gameplay changes.

Star Tropics has the most potential to really surprise and carve out a new game space for Nintendo, I think. As that's been mentioned... I'm going to cast my vote for a spiritual successor to Mother. I know Itoi is said to never want to return to the series and of course another game wouldn't be the same same without him, but there is room for another RPG from Nintendo that's not Xenoblade, Fire Emblem or Paper Mario. Before Nino Kuni I would have said pairing with with Studio Ghibli would be the perfect fit for Nintendo (I think I've read that Miyazaki and Miyamoto are friends and that the original lead artist / character designer for that great 80's Japanese Nintendo boxart was connected to Miyazaki, too).

ZOMG... I could see the "EarthBound" spiritual successor as... a JRPG adaptation of "The Cat Returns!!!" <3

It's only been 7 years since the last one, so that may not count as dormant, but I'd love to see a new Custom Robo. The DS game was one of my favorites on the system.

Speaking of Robos, I played through Chibi Robo on Gamecube last summer and that game blew my mind. One of the more subtly twisted entertainment experiences I've had. and the game was rough enough around the edges to really knock something out of the park with a next gen iteration (the WiiU gamepad could also do tons of crazy stuff with the concept).

I never played Park Patrol, though; was that any good?

The recent demise of Nintendo Power magazine made me think of Nestor. He was invented by the Magazine, but he has appeared in a few games over the year, and he even had his very own game (Nestor's Funky Bowling on the Virtual Boy).

So since this thread is about dormant Nintendo franchises, how about Nestor?
