Monolith Soft Recruiting For 3DS Development

A new 3DS game looks to be on the way from the developers of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Monolift Soft has begun recruiting for a Nintendo 3DS project. A page on their official website has put out a call for experienced developers in the areas of effect and motion development, and 3D models. The new game will be developed in the Kyoto studio.

Recently, Monolift Soft put out a call for Wii U developers. With the positive reception of Xenoblade Chronicles, as well as its upcoming release in North America, it seems as if the developer is poised to tackle the next generation of Nintendo platforms.

Which will take how many years for NOA to decide to release here?

Unless its a niche game coming out at the end of the Wii U's lifespan, you don't have to worry. RPG's did poorly on Wii and those 3 games were not expected to be profitable. It was a business decision.

I probably wouldn't get Pandora's Tower even if it came out. My planned purchases this year has doubled in the last month or so. The only definites were Resident Evil Revelations, Twisted Metal and Xenoblade. Now, I'm getting The Last Story, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Resident Evil 6. A good year for games this far.

Anyway, Monolith Soft might want to consider developing something a little more mainstream though they seem content developing niche games. If Nintendo is thinking of helping other companies revive old franchises, how about enlisting Monolith Soft for a Skies of Arcadia sequel? Reiko Kodama hasn't been involved in too many projects in the past few years. She could still design and produce the game.

But it's likely to be an RPG, which is still considered a niche game.  Why do you think NoA would suddenly become very pro-RPG when it comes to publishing games, when previous sales data suggests that casual games sell much better than core genres?  The only difference (and it could be a meaningful difference) is what point in the console lifecycle the game is ready for publication.

Not bringing Xenoblade/The Last Story over initially was a business decision, but the same business decision could be applied to Monolith Soft's next game.
