« on: February 07, 2012, 09:52:46 PM »

Eight new songs will be coming as paid DLC to Theatrhythm.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29205

The first set of downloadable songs for Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy has been revealed. The songs will be priced at 150 yen (approximately 2 dollars per song), and have been divided between battle and field stage songs. The songs are as follows:

Battle stage songs:

Final Fantasy II: Battle Scene 1

Final Fantasy IV: The Final Battle

Final Fantasy IX: Fighters of the Crystal

Final Fantasy XIII: Fighting Fate

Field stage songs:

Final Fantasy V: Seeking the Light

Final Fantasy VII: Cosmo Canyon

Final Fantasy VIII: Ride On

Final Fantasy X: Someday the Dream Will End

In total, the song list will set Japanese players back 1,200 yen (around $15.60 in American dollars). New songs for the game will be released every two to three weeks and won't be limited to mainline Final Fantasy games.

Seems a bit pricey. I won't be buying these tracks, but for hardcore fans, go right ahead

I hope they will be cheaper if they are available in the Americas, Europe, and elsewhere. Then again, the Square tax may be applied worldwide.

$2 per track is in line with the pricing for music game DLC on other platforms. I wouldn't expect that to change.

Mm, that makes sense now that I think about how the developer needs to add the note track or whatever game bits there are. Ah, I was thinking too much about buying MP3 tracks.

Not that I'd ever buy this kind of thing, but in their defence, also take into account they might have animations/videos/new sprites embedded in them too as well as the song..

So you're saying there could be World Ends With You tracks as DLC? Or does it explicitly have to be from a FF spinoff?

You mean like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, both of which have since crashed and burned? Are you sure that's a good model to follow?

Rock Band still gets DLC every week, so it must be selling at least somewhat well.

I think $1.99 per song is overpriced, and why I never bought any. However, the music games crashed because they were releasing new ones every year and only ultra-hardcore fans kept buying them.

I think they were referring to other Final Fantasy spin off titles, like the Game Boy games and such. Though it would be cool to see tracks from other games make it in.

Music games didn't crash because of DLC. If anything, Rock Band is still around because of DLC.
