Sometimes, the wife just doesn't understand...
« on: January 09, 2012, 10:28:46 PM »
My wife is pretty understanding about my obsessive Nintendo habits.  I use the term "understanding" loosely though, in that she hasn't left me yet. :D

Anyway, after I purchased the tickets for the awesome Zelda concert, she asked how much they were.

I confessed to my awful sin of paying ~$250 for the pair.  She didn't say much about it (this was an over-the-phone conversation).

Yesterday, her first day back in town (she was out of town with her parents on a business trip), I finally got to show her how awesome are seats are.

So, this is the entire theater:

We're in this section highlighted in yellow in the front:

Here's the yellow section, with the two sections right behind it:

We're in those two blue seats -  here's a zoom:

Seriously - these are awesome seats, right?

So, when I show this to my loving wife, she just looks at me and says "So... this means you could have got cheaper tickets?"

:(

Throw some popcorn on stage for me.

You are never going to afford that Pacman Vs Arcade unit if you keep splurging like this.

Which city for the Concert?

And for the love of all that is good and holy, please have concert ettiquite.  It drives me up the wall the few times i've listened to recordings on youtube and people scream like 5 year olds when their favorite song starts up.

Atlanta.
Also, recording devices typically aren't allowed at concerts... and they're *not* allowed at these (per the website).  So if I want to scream tears of joy when they play 'Ballad of the Wind Fish', I will. :D

:-\ I was moreso talking about following concert etiquette than my ability to hear a shitty phone recording of the concert.

Either way, have a stellar time.  Those are incredible seats and I would happily trade shoes with you to experience this.

I've actually been wondering how this will be - you mention "concert etiquette" - obviously, this varies based on the type of performance.  If I'm going to a rock, pop or country concert, yelling and screaming is encouraged.  Something orchestrial or such, though, is typically a bit more classy...

So, like a girl, I'm fretting over what to wear.  As far as screaming and such, I'll figure that out on the fly... but dress code?

I was mostly speaking of the noise making.  Realistically, you are probably right by adopting the general feeling of the crowd.  This is going to be a professional orchestra, which under any other circumstances I would suggest waiting until the piece was over to applaud/cheer, and to wear at least business casual attire.

From what I've read/heard, you'll probably be just fine wearing casual street clothes and screaming like a little girl.  ;D   I just know that it always frustrates me not being able to hear the music because of people cheering/screaming mid-song/piece.

Guess I'm just an old curmudgeon.

Yikes!  ...I really want to go to the ATL concert, but I think my wife would kill me in my sleep if I spent that much.   I'll probably have to settle for the nosebleed section.

UB, i've seen pics of a Zelda Concert (in swapnote) and there were people dressed in Zelda gear.
So bring your Tingle fit just incase, you decide on a wardrobe change for the second act ;)

For what it's worth: I know people who regularly pay prices like that for sporting events, getting much less impressive seats and often a less impressive end product in many cases.  It's not something that I could justify... but then again, I only own 3 Nintendo consoles (9 if you count portables).

It would be a concert for the record books if he floats over the stage with the Tingle balloon.

If there using the weird Orchestra I would put on Sunday go to Meet cloths.  Business Casual would be the equivalent of wearing a wife beater and ghetto jeans.  Though in this case I go with Business Casual or Nintendo themed Merchandise wear or costume.

Also, in case you've never been, that venue (Cobb Energy Center) is freaking awesome. Just saying.

Got two more tickets for an upcoming concert, but this time I'm going with a co-worker who appreciates the tickets. :D
