Mameshiba, a popular line of characters that has appeared in various forms of Japanese media, is going to be the main feature of a 3DS game coming out in Japan this October. The game allows the player to converse and interact with the small, bean-shaped characters, and supports StreetPass.
The Mameshiba brand was originally used to create 30-second mini-episodes to fill unsold commercial time for TV programming. Since then, Mameshiba characters (the name comes from Japanese words that translate to bean, "Mame," and the "Shiba" dog breed) have become so popular that they are recognized by 78% of Japanese under the age of 40.
