E3 2011 Nintendo Press Conference Thread
« on: June 06, 2011, 02:59:09 AM »
Well, the long-awaited day is finally here: the yearly Nintendo E3 company press conference, where we will finally see our first showing of Nintendo's next home console and the coming Fall's software lineup.  We had a thread like this last year for discussing all the E3 Press Conferences, and I thought it worked out rather well with a few hitches.  This topic won't be as elaborate as I had originally planned due to an unforeseen family errand that has had me on the road for 12-15 hours a day for nearly a week now, and I won't be home until late Monday Night.  If moderators wish to make any changes as desired, feel free.  I promised I would put these threads up closer to E3, so I'm just making sure they're up while I still have internet access in this hotel.

In case I somehow oversleep and miss the Press Conference due to getting home at 3 AM, I leave it to you all to post new streaming links and police the thread.  Please be civil, as I do not want a repeat of what we had last year with the Nintendo Press Conference thread.

The Nintendo Press Conference will start at 9:00 AM PST/12:00 PM EST on Tuesday June 7th, and it will be available streamed on Gametrailers.com, IGN.com, and Nintendo's official site at e3.nintendo.com.  Other streaming sites may arise.

Enjoy!  I hope to watch the conference with you Tuesday morning and partake in the discussion!  :D

Cool. As always, Nintendo is the wildcard, with the most potential to impress, but also the most potential to do something weird. That's why managing expectations is important - I know a lot of people are getting super hyped up, but if you go too overboard with it, it'll be impossible for anything to meet those expectations. Put it this way: if you go into the conference with moderated anticipation, then if it is an awesome show, it'll be all the more pleasantly surprising. Last year, I was kind of excited, yet wary at the same time, and when the time came, it was surprise announcement after surprise announcement, which made that show one of the best in recent years.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you guys in the live chat later on. It could get crazy.

Nintendo gets an entire day to themselves, but MS and Sony have to sit at the kiddie table and share a day. Whatever MS and Sony reveal today is going to get squashed and quickly forgotten come day 2.

That might actually be the plan for MS.  Honestly, I think they'll probably announce the upcoming Phone 7/XBox 360 Connectability (Think GCN-GBA),  I few new titles for Kinect, and maybe Maybe Live TV on XBox 360.

We know Sony has the NGP at the very least Queued up.

So yeah, MS is having a conference to have one but, they have other outlets to sneak things in on.

Yeah, I know.  I didn't know if I'd have internet connectivity tonight (21 hours is a bit much for one day's driving, so we'll be setting down in about 6 hours or so and finishing the trip tomorrow), so I put both threads up last night while I had the time and means to do so.

And I'll be adding that Nintendo streaming link to the main post, thanks.

Gives us a day to set our expectations low.  I thought MS kicked ass today...and I'm not a fan.

They had a solid conference, but nothing to write home or get excited about.

Sony needs to WOW us as we already know that Iwata is gonna drop the BOMB tomorrow.

No kidding.  I think last year's thread moved at about the rate of 1 page every few minutes, and that's not even taking into account the trolling.

$250 Vita seems like a 3DS killer?!  Sony really delivered on that price methinks.

I really want to see how Nintendo responds to this.  The best thing that could happen to both companies is healthy competition, where we as consumers all benefit no matter how it shapes out.

How much should we believe that little pic of a Wii-looking console.  The caption reads "Cafe is simply the most developer-friendly SDK the industry has ever seen.  Deliver unparalleled next generation performance at current generation costs.  It doesn't get any better than this."

Article mentions that it supports Blu-Ray.  Hmmm.
