I found the voice stuff to be pretty cool, but can someone tell me, could the headset that you all use for LIVE not be used in such a way?

Since they moved all the processing from the Kinect into the XBox anyway, yeah, there's no reason for that 130€ camera to be involved in the voice stuff.

Also I laugh at all the rail shooters for Kinect.

Overall, an okay-ish show. I must say, I really like the Microsoft style of presentation - very briskly paced, demo after demo, not too long on any one thing. I'm sort of surprised they didn't show more multiplatform stuff like Batman Arkham City or Bioshock Infinite, though.

As expected, Kinect was all encompassing, and I'm still not convinced. It's pretty obvious that nobody can be that ambitious when there's no buttons to press. The demos for Mass Effect 3 and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, while kinda cool, illustrate this because the Kinect is serving a superfluous role. Are people really going to be rushing out to buy a Kinect so that they can talk to their squad or assemble a gun... and that's it? Same with the Kinect Fun Labs; that stuff was high concept and looked very impressive, but unless they show some interesting things to do with that gameplay wise, its appeal is somewhat limited. Finally, I know people said that the Wii isn't for the self-concious, but this is not for the self-concious. I can't imagine speaking to an Xbox and not feeling completely ridiculous.

Wasn't Halo Reach essentially Halo 4?

Technically, no since Reach was a prequel to the series.

...
They probably didn't  want to overlap Sony.  The only real reason to show a 3rd party title at your event is if its exclusive, has exclusive content or something noticeable, you need Brownie points with that developer, or you've got time that needs killed.

Hooray, I finally have internet connectivity on the road!  I missed the Microsoft Press Conference, but from the sounds of things, it doesn't seem like I missed much.  I don't give a damn about Halo or Fable, but I'll have to look into watching video footage of that Kinect Disneyland game.  As a huge Disney fan, that's right up my alley, though I have no intention currently of buying a Kinect.  I rarely use my 360 as it is.  As for Kinect support for Mass Effect 3, from a pure artistic standpoint (the financial benefits to EA are obvious) I can only ask "WHY?!"  I don't see any real benefit to having Kinect support for that game, but whatever.

Looking forward to the EA Press Conference.

I've posted Kinect Disneyland video yesterday.... same with the Kinect Starwars.
I quoted them both into this thread too.

OK, I'm significantly less interested in this game now that I've seen what it is: a re-skin of Kinect Adventures.

Cloud saving for Xbox Live was mentioned in a recap email but not on stage. You'd think that'd be a big deal.

Wow, EA couldn't have picked a more generic gameplay sequence to show off Mass Effect 3.  It looks like any other 3rd person shooter without the dialogue and RPG elements we know are in the game. Still really looking forward to it, though.

Need for Speed: The Run.
Autolog in the story? ON foot sections? QTEs everywhere? Black Box, why?!

My thoughts exactly. NFS is a racing sim, not anything for on foot play.

damn this EA game looks intense.... what is it? I missed the intro.

Looks like EA decided to bring back that one game where you ran on roof tops but combine it with  NFS?

I will be sad if I have to settle for QTE: The Run if there is no Mirror's Edge 2. To give Need for Speed: The Run some credit, it looks and sounds great.

Unfortunately, my streaming feed cut out during the Need for Speed demo, so I only saw bits of it.  That's probably the best I'm going to get right now, considering Gametrailers' huge traffic and my trying to stream this in the car.  The game looked ok, but it takes something special to get me interested in a racing game.

4 videos in and EA is already outdoing MS's Conference.

SSX video was pretty intense too.

To be fair, the bar's set pretty low right now.  EA beat them pretty easily last year, too, for the same reason.

SSX (2012).
Kaori confirmed for coming back! Hurrah!

All this Origin stuff saddens me since I hoped to snag Battlefield 3 on Steam. Oh well, it's nothing more than a trivial annoyance to use Electronic Arts Download Manager/Origin.

Oh look, a presentation of the new FIFA game. Yawn.  I'm sure its partner in "who-gives-a-****", the next Madden, will be along soon enough as well.

EDIT: And oh look...another EA "Club" no one will ever use, just like the EA Gun Club.  Took long enough for him to cover it...

This Inception/ Mind Heist for Madden 12 is a very slick presentation. EA sure know how to make a slick promotion.
