Retailers Reveal New Details Regarding Pandora's Tower

New details arise concerning the game's control scheme.

With Pandora's Tower due out in Japan next month, retailers have begun sharing new tidbits of information regarding Nintendo's new Wii title.

Pandora's Tower supports numerous control schemes. Players can choose to play the game in a traditional way using the Classic Controller or by using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. When using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination, the Wii Remote acts as a chain, thereby making players feel as though they are actually swinging a chain. The Classic Controller, as one would expect, relies on button-based combinations.

The main character of the game, Ende, uses a chain as his primary weapon. This item can be used to tear flesh from beasts that he comes into contact with, as well as to manipulate switches. The game's heroine, Ceres, requires the flesh of beasts in order to survive a curse, which is slowly transforming her mind and body into a beast.

Retailers have also revealed that the game is an "exploration-style action RPG," thereby causing some to speculate as to whether or not it is similar to the Metroid or Castlevania series. The game features thirteen towers, and a boss lies at the end of each tower.

Pandora's Tower is set for a May 26 release in Japan. The game is rated C by CERO.

An exploration-style action RPG with a time limit? While I'm open to being pressed for time, I can imagine others won't be. There hasn't been much information on the time limit in the game other than it exists.

Hurray for multiple control schemes. Or would it be boo for multiple control schemes since there is a high possibility that the motion controls will end up being a hassle compared to the Classic Controller control scheme? Time will tell.

I really am hoping this game turns out well. I don't know, it seems like we always put too much faith or hype into these 3rd party games on Wii. I myself am always guilty of doing so. For once I just want a game to amaze me, and actually have a chance of a sequel. Who else here is tired of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts? Let's see if these guys can turn this thing into a franchise, instead of a 1 hit wonder not becoming anything else. It looks great so far, so let's hope it can deliver.

Hmm... I agree these new details sound intriguing. Something about climbing up to the top of something and knocking a monster to the ground that's psychologically satisfying. (King/Donkey Kong, etc.)
