Beenox Named Lead Developer on Upcoming Spider-Man Games
« on: January 13, 2011, 06:20:40 PM »

Excelsior! The Activision-owned studio is in charge of making Spider-Man games going forward.

Beenox, the studio responsible for 2010's Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions on Wii, is the lead developer for all upcoming Spidey-related games, Activision announced today.

The company, which is a wholly owned Activision subsidiary, previously worked on Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and the Wii version of Quantum of Solace. Their most recent release was Shattered Dimensions, which was well received, though our own Zach Miller had some issues with the Wii version.

Around the release of Shattered Dimensions, members of Beenox expressed interest in making a full game centered around the Spider-Man Noir character, which was featured in last year's game. That was never more than wishful thinking, and as of now, no release window or concrete game concepts have been revealed.

This is fine if their next project is a full Spidey 2099 game.

I'd like to see more games that showcase the various incarnations of Spidey, myself, though not as forced as it happened in Shattered Dimensions.  I'm happy that SD did well enough for them to take the reigns on the franchise, though.  That game did a lot to introduce me to some incarnations of Spidey I'd never seen before but now really enjoy with the comic books, such as Spider-man Noir and Ultimate Spider-man.  I just hope that Activision hands whatever movie tie-in comes of the upcoming reboot movie to some other studio, as this studio has too much talent to have to waste it on yet another crappy movie tie-in game.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Oh man my Spider-Man loving friend is going to be pumped. He beat the crap out of Shattered Dimensions. I'm pretty sure he got every single challenge and spider.

The 2099 parts in the game were the most repetitive and boring parts of the game.  I actually stopped playing the game because of them.  Spider-Man Noir, on the other hand, I'll take as much as I can get!
