Virtual Console returns with a classic Final Fantasy title while DSiWare receives the most titles.

After a brief hiatus, the Virtual Console receives an update in the form of Square Enix's Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. The RPG title was originally conceived for a North American audience and served as an introduction to RPG games. Mystic Quest can be downloaded for 800 Wii Points ($8.00).

WiiWare sees two releases this week, including one holiday themed game. Happy Holidays: Halloween from 505 Games is an app in which players can send Halloween-themed cards to other players over wi-fi. The title can be purchased for 500 Wii Points ($5.00).

From Nintendo comes the second WiiWare title, ThruSpace. The title is an action puzzle game in which players guide Tetris-like pieces through gaps in walls. In addition, players score combos when collecting pairs of crystals in a row. The title can be purchased for 800 Wii Points ($8.00).

DSiWare received the most titles this week, with four new titles added to the DSiWare catalog. The first is a puzzle title from Nintendo called Snapdots. Snapdots consists of a moving picture and an UFO that shoot blocks. Players must move the picture around and use the UFO to shoot a block and place it on the picture. The challenge progressively increases, however, as pictures require different types of blocks. The game can be downloaded for 500 DSi Points ($5.00).

From Zoo Games comes Armada, a flight strategy game where the player must guide different military aircraft, avoid enemy fire, and re-fuel their planes. Armada costs 500 DSi Points ($5.00) to download.

Tic-Tac-Toe is Gamelion's release this week. In addition to the classic game, a new mode is included consisting of nine boards to fill. The title has been priced at 200 DSi Points ($2.00).

The final title this week is Music On: Playing Piano from Abylight, an app that lets players learn to play the piano through digital musical cues. It can be downloaded for 200 DSi Points ($2.00).

Having missed FFMQ, I immediately downloaded it this morning upon learning of its release.

At the time, FFMQ wuas the first RPG I had ever finished.  While it wasn't super deep and it must have had some localization problems (I couldn't reall tell back then, who could?), it was interesting and accessible enough that I was happy to finish it, although sad that it ended.

It certainly wasn't as epic as some other Final Fantasy titles, but I didn't think it was a bad game.  Not sure if I'll pick it up for VC.  I would on the DS though.
