Really, anything above 200€ is way too damn much for the 3DS, even going above 150€ is already expensive.

Well that sounds a bit silly...

All the specs might not show it but Nintendo will be ahead of the pack with the 3DS and things like that always come with a price. The announced price converted to any currency sounds crazy.......... if you haven't seen this thing for your own eyes.

25,000Yen is about the price you pay for a luxury item like this in Japan. Think about what ever FAD luxury product in your respective country now and the 3DS will be about that much.

Want it in March? Pay UP! Or wait in agonizing pain for the Christmas bundle to save a few buX.

People are guessing 250$, therefore I expect 250€. What pack is the system ahead of? The Apple pack? It's ahead in battery life only there (and of course controls).

I'm unable to see stereoscopic 3D except for the most extreme cases anyway but even if I could see it I wouldn't pay more than a couple of Euros extra for it. In the end it's still just a gimmick, not an improvement to the core functionality of the system.

I think 250 as well , but that doesn't seem like too much to me, it's up there but not over board. As far as ahead of the pack goes, I'm thinking of the hand held gaming  market. The PSP Go alienates the previous PSP enthusiast and until the iPhone has buttons or slides open to reveal two touch screens, it wont be a serious gaming experience.

I do feel bad for your inability to see stereoscopic and might not have any luck with parallax either. but hopefully the rest of the systems features will be able to win you over in the long run.

I like the games the system offers but I do not see any justification for the price of the system itself. The DS was over 100€ cheaper than that.

The competitor the 3DS must beat is not the PSP. It is not the iPhone either. It is the DS. How much more does the 3DS offer to me, the customer, that would warrant a 100€ price increase? This question gets much, MUCH worse once you ask it from the perspective of the blue ocean crowd the DS brought in. How much would glasses-free 3D improve games that are not 3D in the first place?

Sony had a similar problem trying to migrate their Buzz and Singstar audiences to the PS3, there is no real benefit from going to the bigger hardware as the games were never hardware-constrained anyway.

Yeah the current Family of DS does make it a hard sell and truthfully I'm not really excited for the N64 remakes, 3D in old games doesn't change/add game play.

But I think Nintendo is trying to express that this item is less of a Toy and more a Gadget. This way grown folk will adopt it first for them selves and once the first drop happens in the third quarter, then the ,ore savvy consumers like yourself will have saved some dollars and will have an even better lineup to pick from.
