Dragon's Lair Trilogy for Wii
« on: October 01, 2010, 12:28:32 AM »
Coming out on the 8th of October is Dragon's Lair Trilogy for Wii.

It includes Dragon's Lair and Dragon's Lair 2 as well as Space Ace. Gonna be $29.99.

I have only played the first game and that was only one time way back when it came out. Had no idea about Dragon's Lair 2 existing.Never played Space Ace.

I will probably pick this up at some point since I did like the first game as a kid.

Anybody else play these games?

To be honest, I'd completely forgotten this collection existed.  Just too many more interesting games releasing these next few months (I've only ever played the first Dragon's Lair, and I didn't play it for very long), and $30 is more than I'd like to pay for it.

I kind of wish they had included Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair, maybe that would have helped convince some more people.

Probably saving it for 3DSWare.  If memory serves, the original Dragon's Lair is already available on DSiWare.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It is. Seriously, Dragon's Lair is available on just about every gaming console you can think of. My friend has it on his iPhone.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Yeah, Dragon's Lair is not something that can really hold your attention that long.  I wouldn't want to pay $30 for it.  I'll just watch the video on youtube. :)

Dragons lair, in my complete and honest opinion is the forefather for games like god of war, force unleashed and so on.   To simply dismiss it is not fair.  IN fact, anyone who hasnt already should jump in the series with part II of Dragons Lair, it really is the best of breed.

I have Space Ace and Dragon's Lair on my iphone.  I really enjoyed them.  I forgot there was a 2.  They are fun but I doubt I'll get this trilogy.  If I see it in a bargain bin I'll be there though.

Eh, I'm not dismissing it.  It's just that I've seen so many re-releases of this over the years that it's sort of become ho-hum.  I even owned a version for my DVD player at one point.

I love Don Bluth's animation style, and I love the game for that in particular. It was definitely revolutionary in it's time, though.  I used to love to go to the arcades just to watch it.

So how are the controls on this going to work? Classic controller support? Motion controls? Wii mote sideways? Nunchuck?

On the Wii this is an important question to ask.

I have looked around and haven't seen any mention of controller options.
The features for the game suggest that it will be arcade authentic and will have the same type of gameplay as the arcade games. So I imagine it would use pointer controls to choose your path and possibly gestures as well. I'll look into it more though.

On the Wii this is an important question to ask.

The original Dragon's Lair games could be played with a DVD remote these days, so I doubt we'll see Gesture controls.  It'll probably just be straight-up Wiimote+Nunchuk or Wiimote-NES style.

I might pick this one up, if it drops in price, if I can find it, and if I can remember that it exists.
