I guessed the easy ones, #2 and #4. But I have played #5 and really enjoyed it as a kid! No reason for that to be missing from Virtual Console along with other games like Adventure Island 3.

Ah, I went 1 for 5 this time, well at least it's better than I did last time.

It's strange that I got the fourth game, because I just took a wild guess by remembering what was said on Newscast some time back and the tone of the selected songs.
This is where I would write something witty or funny if I had any ideas.

RE:  Game #3

I owned Battle Clash as a kid.  Contrary to what TYP guessed during the game discussion, you do not control the direction of your mech by aiming towards the edge of the screen.  The game runs on auto-pilot; the only thing you control is the shooting.  This is written into the game's story--the enemy mechs you fight are all controlled by one pilot.  However, your mech has a separate pilot and gunner (the second being played by you).  Several of the enemy mech pilots are in disbelief of this and make comments like "you will be easy prey if you do not work together".  It all made sense as a kid, but in retrospect it was pretty much just an excuse to make the game a pure shooting gallery.  But a fun one!

The sequel, Metal Combat, was pretty much more of the same.  The only big thing it offered that the first one didn't was a 2-player vs. mode.  Your friend could control the enemy mech via the second control pad.  I never owned the game, so I don't know how well it played, but I loved the idea in theory.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I happened to play the sequel first, and remember it having a new suit and an expanded story mode. You could also do massive charge shots with the new suit. Other than that, it wasn't all that different.

I'll have to look into the 2 player mode, though.

Maybe in 2012 they can release a light gun compilation for the Super Wii with the Super Scope 6 games/Yoshi's Safari/the Battle Clash series reworked to work with the Wiimote.

I'm actually a huge fan of Battle Clash and Metal Combat.  The sequel is much better than the first game because of the expanded story mode and the added variety of the second mech.  The final boss is also one of my favorites in gaming.

Also I've always though the name Metal Combat was to try to get sales off of people who think it's actually a Mortal Kombat game.

As usual, I did terribly. I enjoyed the music, but I did not get any right.
