RE: Game #3
I owned Battle Clash as a kid. Contrary to what TYP guessed during the game discussion, you do not control the direction of your mech by aiming towards the edge of the screen. The game runs on auto-pilot; the only thing you control is the shooting. This is written into the game's story--the enemy mechs you fight are all controlled by one pilot. However, your mech has a separate pilot and gunner (the second being played by you). Several of the enemy mech pilots are in disbelief of this and make comments like "you will be easy prey if you do not work together". It all made sense as a kid, but in retrospect it was pretty much just an excuse to make the game a pure shooting gallery. But a fun one!
The sequel, Metal Combat, was pretty much more of the same. The only big thing it offered that the first one didn't was a 2-player vs. mode. Your friend could control the enemy mech via the second control pad. I never owned the game, so I don't know how well it played, but I loved the idea in theory.
