Hey folks,

Just wanted to pimp a little side-project about movies that I collaborate on with Jonny Metts, Mike Sklens, Evan Burchfield and Stan Ferguson. It's called Box Office Poison, and we all had a pretty good time recording the first episode this past week. I'd surely appreciate it if you could take some time out to listen to it.

Here's a link:

As always, feedback (negative or positive) is very much appreciated.

Is there a podcast feed?

I was just about to ask the same thing.
Now that I have a lot of free time on my hands, I'd love to hear what's hot and what's not in the summer of movies. It needs to be an MP3 for the laptop I'm using, unfortunately.

Hear Jonny Metts Defend Caligula

Hey folks. Thought I'd link you to the latest episode of Box Office Poison (featuring Evan Burchfield, Stan Ferguson and Jonny Metts, in addition to myself), where we talk about Scott Pilgrim, The Kids Are All Right, and then eventually get to Jonny defending our Movie of the Month, the infamous Caligula.

If that kinda talk strikes your fancy, you can check it out here:

I'm intend to check out this podcast one day, but thus far I've avoided it mainly because of spoiler concerns (re: Inception, Scott Pilgrim).  Also--and maybe this is just me--but while I enjoy listening to people talk about video games I haven't played, I don't find the same interest in listening to people chat about movies I haven't seen.

Anyway, my question is do you make liberal use of chapters that would allow me to skip sections that I either don't want to hear (yet) or simply don't have an interest?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I do. There's a chapter selection for each movie we talk about, so you're free to skip around segments that might contain spoilers.

Just out of curiosity, how long after a movie comes out do you no longer consider it spoiling something? There has to be a point where you can talk about anything in a movie and people can't complain about it being a spoiler. For example, people can not complain about the ending of a movie like Saw being a spoiler because the movie is nearly six years old.

Well, it's always a spoiler, but after a certain amount of time, I don't think you need to be careful about not spoiling a movie. For me, once the movie's been out on DVD/Blu-Ray for a while, it's fair game.

Then again, I usually prefer to not get into specific plot points in a film unless it directly relates to a point I'm making. You never know if someone's listening who's never heard of the movie before - I'd hate to ruin it for them before they even get a chance to watch it. I guess it depends on whether I'm talking about a movie in a conversation or on a podcast. On a podcast, I try to tread lightly no matter how long the movie's been out.

New episode, folks! This time we talk about Machete, The Expendables, Tommy, Black Dynamite, and bring it all home with our Movie of the Month: Jesus Christ Superstar.
