How about a poll on best Donkey Kong games, in honor of the upcoming Retro Studios DK Country game?

Ooh--I like this one, too.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I second the Mega Man choice.

I've played 2, maybe 3 Castlevania games, and I didn't like them.

Well, if you played the "old-style" CV games, I can understand why. You need to play the Metroidvania games.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

I second the Mega Man choice.

I am not sure how practical this would be. Even just counting the original Mega Man (meaning no Mega Man X, Mega Man Network Transmission, etc.), there have been 18 games on Nintendo systems. Add in all Mega Mega series and that number goes up to 52 (not counting compilations), that means the poll would be going on for the next 3 1/2 months (52 entries at 2 days for each round = 102 days).

That's why I suggested 1-10. Letting the whole series in would have us on the same poll until the end of the decade.

I vote Mega Man 1-10 the original series.  Or if you like I would even say doing only the NES Mega Man games plus 9 and 10...and then another for the SNES 16 Bit Mega Mans ect.

I guess that is possible, Mega Man 8 is technically on a Nintendo system since it was on Mega Man Anniversary Collection for GameCube (the original release was only on PlayStation and Saturn).

A few other possibilities:

RPG Mario (including Paper Mario and the portable games like Bowser's Inside Story)
Non-Mario Mario games (Yoshi games, Super Princess Peach, Lugi's Mansion, Mario is Missing, etc)
Pinball (mario pinball, kirby pinball, metroid pinball, etc)
Art Style
Kirby (traditional games, not puzzle or racing games)

Great idea!  That way we can have a poll that lasts 20 years.

Would it help if I said "reasonably accurate dinosaurs?" That would knock Turok out of the poll. LOL

But Turok HAS to be on the poll. I say we all just nominate games with dinosaurs for the list.

Which games would be left?  Besides Yoshi, of course, he is completely accurate.

Yoshi isn't even a dinosaur. He's a dragon. Or, even more technically, he's a Yoshi. :P

What game says Yoshi is the name of his species? Yoshi is the character's name.

From the Super Mario World instruction manual:

Quote
Suddenly the egg hatched, and out popped a young dinosaur named YOSHI, who
proceeded to tell Mario and Luigi a sad tale of how his dinosaur pals who
were sealed in similar eggs by a group of monstrous turtles.

What game says Yoshi is the name of his species? Yoshi is the character's name.

The Yoshi's Island instruction manual refers to "Yoshies" as plural, saying there are "lots of different Yoshies".

That's the US manual. In Japan, Yoshi is and has always been a dragon. I'm guessing that Nintendo of America felt that "dinosaur" sounded a little more friendly than "dragon"?

I'm invoking the Pokemon rule: he's obsessed with constantly saying his own name, so logically that must be the name of his species.   :P:

Ah, but Wario has been known to say things other than his own, such as "I'm a" and "Gonna Win".   :P: :
